My sister has celiacs and she has had good experiences with Princess and has been wary of cruising on other lines simply because she is scared of rolling the dice on it.

Wow James boat, do tell why its so dumb. The reactions s/he described would have been present BEFORE being diagnosed with celiac disease. I have a friend with celiac disease who is very careful about what she eats without telling people she has celiac. She paid close attention prior to her diagnosis and ate accordingly. The point of my post was accommodations were made prior to the diagnosis to avoid the symptoms the OP shared and perhaps those could be done while cruising. So please tell me why my post was the dumbest you have ever read on this board?

What did you do before celiac disease? Celiac is fairly new and I'm sure you didn't have that reaction every time you ate gluten prior to the prevalence and gluten free menu options. Is that a possibility when you cruise, whatever it was that you did?

You asked for the good and bad, and you got the bad. The people on these boards have been on cruises with large groups of kids, and they are responding. Don't blame the person who answered because you don't like what they have to say.

When people say the bad, they mean be quiet if you have any bad...... Then call you a lot of names when you don't agree with them, which they define as bad.

We have done both. I will never do a private one after doing a ship one in the panama canal. There was CRAZY traffic and we were at least 30 minutes late....the ship waited. The people on private excursions weren't so lucky.

I was on the 12/12 sailing and I have been on atleast 10 cruises. I have only ever felt this ship rock. It wasn't to bad to me but it was noticeable. Also, I still have sea leads today, never in all my cruises have I experienced seas legs.

Great description, I was underwhelmed too, but as I have said before would cruise with her again. I register for the puzzle activity on Royal IQ then it disappeared. When I realized it and tried to re-register all spots were gone. I second fussed myself and thought I registered myself. I often do things in my head and assume I did them for real.

You have nothing to apologize to these people for. It always amazes me how 2 people can be in the same place, hear the same thing, etc and have 2 distinct opinions.

 

What surprises me, although it is CC, is why they are all jumping on you, its almost like they want to see a bad review and keep pointing it out to all.

 

I appreciate a good balanced review. I like to hear the good and bad and why it is good and bad to the writer. It helps me to see what my opinions may be. Thanks for taking the time to writer YOUR opinions of the ship in your review.

Also simply because I said I missed something from another cruise doesn't mean I did.nt enjoy it, it simply meant I missed it. The things I said were disgusting or horrible didn't ruin the cruise for me. Guess what those disgusting or horrible things will be skipped the next time I'm on that ship. I hated silk, I won't ever go back to. silk. I can find PLENTY to do on a ship, if it's simply sitting in a quiet spot and reading a book. I guess I'm not a malcontent.

You are entitled to post anything you want and take any vacation you want-- however, I was also surprised when you said that you booked anthem again, as I also got the impression that it was a mainly negative experience for you.

I didn't, however,think it was necessary to repost it to PROVE it was negative.

I didn't book another one. I said I would though. It was different from other RCI cruises I have been on. Like I said in the beginning of the post this was a relaxing vacay for us and we succeeded. It wasn't negative it was different.

Windjammer: Nothing inedible, but nothing was great

American Icon: Desserts were HORRIBLE

Silk: DISGUSTING. We walked out. Apps were bad and meal was horrible

Michael's Pub: Wings, nothing to write home about

Bionic Bar: Gimmick - needs to only be seen once

Spectra: Female lead singers are horrible. RC needs to attract better talent

The Gift: Confused. Didn't enjoy at all. Left after 15 minutes

Love & Marriage: Performance at 3:00 in the afternoon

Cruise Director: Pompous jerk. Rude and disrespectful. Didn't enjoy at all

Kenny James: Not good. Corny and talked a lot. Thinks he's better than he is.

 

You claimed to have missed the MDR and found the bar service to be spotty. You missed the nighttime games due to 'odd hours'. You didn't get the 'community feel' as with other ships. You missed the promenade and would prefer that over the esplanade 'any day'. No late night snacks, no chocolate displays and no ice sculptures.

 

Sure sounds negative to me, but as you said, you didn't get seasick or marooned at sea. So I suppose you really did have a blast!

I had a rather snarky reply typed up then deleted it because what someone else thinks of MY experience on the cruise I paid for matters not.

I have to agree with Ranchette's assessment of your post. Seems the only positive things you had to offer were the 'great' rolls in the Windjammer and your Two70 experience. Everything else had extremely negative overtones.

 

As you said, tomato/tomatoe. There's no need to get defensive toward anyone who may also interpret your review as generally negative. Glad you claim to have enjoyed yourself, but based upon your review, I really don't understand how you did!

I am missing the extremely negative overtones and the defensiveness I displayed but to each his own.

When we got off the 12/12 sailing, (would have been 12/19) we saw an ambulance too. There was nothing reported. One lady told me her son dislocated his shoulder and went to the medic. I wonder if anything happens to a passage they triage on the ship and then to cover themselves have an ambulance waiting for a more thorough examination????????

Royal and Celebrity do not do the late night fancy buffets anymore, so it's not just Anthem.

 

I won't bother trying the wings at Michael's, thanks for saving me money.

 

A couple of questions.

 

What was in your luggage that caused it to be inspected?

What was wrong with Silk? I have heard similar comments. Was it bland? Just poorly prepared? Very disappointing if it's really bad since the menu sounds interesting.

The wings were $5, they were good but not great. For $5 give em a try, you might like them more.

I do not know what is wrong with silk. The food has absolutely no flavor, NONE. I read the same reviews about silk but wanted to try myself.

we were on this cruise too. it was our first with RC and they did not win us over from cunard whom we have 10 or so cruises with.

I would suggest you give RCI another try and try one of the not so new mega ships, a different experience.
