HAL ROTTERDAM..... AVOID DECK 4

SeaTac has had ongoing construction for quite awhile and baggage claim is the worst. We picked up friends yesterday who are sailing with you and the arrivals area is a mess. The 3 large trucks picking up cruiser luggage didn’t help. Too bad the don’t have a different area for that. Have a great cruise!

My dad was also in the 3rd Armored Division. I'm pretty sure I have that same book and his VFW hat. His unit was one of the first to enter Nordhausen, one of the last concentration camps. He had nightmares for many years.- 80 replies

Dive In is a nice choice. If you're early enough, you can try the main dining room. -

Verandah vs Vista Suite on Niew Statendam
SusieKIslandGirl replied to MadManOfBethesda's topic in Holland America Line
You can call your TA after final payment to ask about a paid upsell. At the time I did that, the price for the Vista was actually less than what we'd gotten the verandah for, but the trick was asking for a paid upsell rather than just an upgrade. -

I really like Coldeze (I think it's a form of zinc). Two or three of those a few hours apart, seem to nip a cold quickly.- 90 replies

@wandbWe were in Athens the first part of October several years ago and it was very hot the day we toured the Acropolis. Luckily, I had my umbrella in my backpack in case of rain. Worked well for a sun shade instead.- 78 replies

20240513_161532.heic Finally finished DD's quilt I started while visiting last year. @dfishcan laugh at the set-up. The new house doesn't have the sewing room set up yet so I was ironing on a wooden cutting board with a towel on top and binder clips in place of pins (Hope the photo comes through-not sure how to do it from the cell phone.) -

@durangoscotsWhat a difference a few miles (relatively speaking) make. We're visiting in Salida and it's been snowing most of the last 3 days. Yesterday afternoon I thought the rain would melt a lot of it, but a few inches more this morning. The sun is back so maybe the end is in sight. Hoping for clear weather for the trip back to Denver and our flight home Tuesday. Of course, the weather in the Seattle area has been wonderful.- 104 replies

e Fleet Report and Daily for Friday May 10th, 2024
SusieKIslandGirl replied to kazu's topic in Holland America Line
It's been an interesting few days in Colorado, so far. On the way home from the 5th grade band concert last night, the snow started falling. This morning it continued and finally stopped after about 12-14 inches. The power went out about 8:30 am and came back on about 6 pm. Interesting trying to keep the boys (9 & 11) entertained-dominos and a puzzle helped. We made great toasted cheese sandwiches on top of the wood stove. Of course at home, near Seattle, it was supposed to reach 80 degrees. Not sure what tomorrow is going to bring! Heading home on Tuesday. Take care everyone.- 81 replies

If where you're staying isn't too far from the airport, you can always return to the airport the next morning and use the HAL shuttle. -

DH used the SUTAB prep tablets a couple of months ago and it was much easier. We had to pay a bit more than our normal copay but it was worth it. -
DH has done the Seafood Boil twice and both times I went to the buffet and chose my dinner and took it back to his table. No problem!

Adding another thanks for your travel reports. I want to be on your trivia team someday! I’ve enjoyed following along. -
@superomaBe careful with the parchment. It needs to be held down-otherwise the air circulating causes it to fly up to the heating element and it starts to burn. Been there, done that!!😳. Off to the airport in a couple of hours for our flight to Denver and then south on Saturday to DD and family’s new home. Can’t wait!
