  1. The cost would be the same whether you have insurance or not. The question then would be if you had insurance, how much would they cover. Every travel insurance is different so the only people that could answer that is the specific travel insurance company for coverage and the hospital and medical care / evacuation for costs. Repatriation can be very expensive that's why most people who cruise get some type of medical travel insurance.
  2. Yes you can find individual drink prices on the App under bars. Just check the current sailing for the up to date prices.
  3. This happened to me in Le Havre back in 2016 -- had to dock in Dover, England instead. Apparently strikes are a common occurrence in France. RCI finds alternatives though. Missing Marseille is no biggie, IMO.
  4. Yes, the question is when. However analysts have give RCL a target price of $172 in the near future - will hold on to it until then 🤞
  5. RCL stock just reached a 52-week high today. Now trading at over $155.
  6. I think what they meant was they were already D+ and E+ on both lines so they are not getting anything extra by this new status match. Those that are gaining the most are Pinns that never sailed X as they are now Zenith and vice versa for Zeniths that never sailed on RCI as they are now Pinns.
  7. You can find the prices on the App for the current sailing.
  8. I can see young people being asked but older folks, some not speaking a lick of Spanish and with cruise tickets in hand? They are not going to think you’ll be going there to find a job. From personal experience, I have never been asked for proof of funds and have travelled extensively throughout Spain and Europe. This is the first I hear of this. I’m flying to Barcelona this week and will not be carrying paper bank statements with me. Unless this is a new requirement, it sounds like total BS.
  9. I’m certainly not complaining it’s a step up for me. Just pointing out that for a few this translates into no change at all.
  10. I loved the WOW bands - they worked great for me every time. It’s sad to think might be a thing of the past.
  11. It isn’t a change for those who were already Elite+ and Diamond+ on both lines using their respective points - see the other thread. That really sucks for them yet for the majority it is a step up and a much needed and wanted improvement.
  12. My impression is that the writer was paid to write a negative review which he surely embellished with lots of hyperbole and a sprinkling of sarcasm. That was an expensive article for the Atlantic - wonder if they got their money's worth? I don't think RCI would ever advertise there so I don't think they lost a client.
  13. Yes, that's correct. I checked both the app and the cruise planner online and I have been bumped up to Elite+.
  14. On another note, X has a VIP Access (like the Key on RCI) which IMO, is a much better value than The Key. It includes the following: What's Included Premium Wi-Fi for two devices. Complimentary room service, unlimited (waived delivery fee & gratuities) Early access at the terminal. (See FAQs for more information) Priority luggage delivery to staterooms. Welcome lunch in the main dining room served from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm; be sure to select an early boarding time. Priority departure from ship to shore in ports that require tender service. Reserved seating at shows in The Theatre. Express luggage service in the terminal when debarking. Important details and advisements When you receive your SeaPass card, it will have an icon confirming your purchase of Premium Access. Premium Access must be purchased prior to sailing by each guest age 6 or older assigned to the same stateroom. *YOU MAY ALREADY HAVE ACCESS TO THESE BENEFITS: Before purchase, refer to your stateroom category amenities and your loyalty status to confirm.
  15. Yes interesting indeed. I thought it was new since I haven't cruised Celebrity in a while. I have a X cruise coming up in November and just joined the program. Thanks for the clarification.
  16. Yaaay! Free specialty coffee and 2 bags of laundry for me - a welcome change! Also Celebrity lets you earn points online by filling out surveys and online stuff at home which get converted to Captain's Club points - this is new as well: How It Works Here’s how it works. We’ll email you an activity to participate in and you’ll earn a set number of Power Up Points when you complete it. Those points will convert into Club Points and automatically be added to your Captain’s Club Points bank. For every 10 Power Up Points earned, you’ll get 1 Club Point. For example, if you participate in a survey worth 20 Power Up Points, you’ll get 2 Club Points added to your Club Point bank.* The more you participate, the more you’ll earn. * All Power Up Points earned in a calendar month will be converted to Club Points and added to a participating member’s Club Point balance within 14 days of month’s end. View Full Terms and Conditions here.
  17. When someone is epileptic whether 20 years old or 100 years old, the common sense thing to do is purchase medical travel insurance, IMO. I don't think age should play any part in this situation.
  18. The take away in this story is that if you have pre-existing medical issues (in this case epileptic seizures), you make sure you are covered while away from home through medical travel insurance. Not to do so is irresponsible.
  19. Some ATV and fast boat tours also have lower age limits. Some as low as 60. There are tours with weight limits as well, i.e. parasailing and zip lining.
  20. From the sound of it you'd think some people only dine in 4-star Michelin restaurants. They take food snobbery to the next level! There are some upscale foodie cruises out there where you can put on your bougie, but cruising on RCI is not one of them. Personally, I cruise for other aspects altogether but I guess food is paramount for some.
  21. Also check out the FB and Social Media pages for your cruise. Lots of good information.
  22. Jason Liberty sold 50,000 shares RCL stock which was approximately $6.98 million, with a weighted-average price of $139.63 per share. Following this sale, Liberty's direct ownership in Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is 153,017 shares. So I'm not worried he's cashing out and sailing into the sunset. No other executive / director followed. He could have myriad reasons to have taken out 6.98M. Graduation present? Gift to a family member? Who the frig knows. He does have a substantial number of shares left. I don't see this sale as an indication that the sky is falling - not for now at least. I'm staying in especially when the average future target price (according to analysts) is $151 with a high estimate of $174.
  23. Viking (VIK) is slated to go public on May 1st trading from $21 and $25 per share.
  24. I would prefer that as well! Hope the change comes soon fleet-wide.
