  1. Jacqui, we are missing you! Aris, Susie and Edy all send their good wishes. I decided I must get internet on this leg if I want to stay in touch. I know it is very difficult for you to type , so just know we are thinking of you.
  2. Quite a story! We love Air tags. DH had a bag left behind at Heathrow and missing for two days in Copenhagen. Eventually they let us in behind the scenes in Copenhagen and we used my phone like a Geiger counter to locate it under a pile of bags lying on the floor near a carousel. People watched as my phone told us 50 metres, 40 metres, etc. we wouldn’t have heard it pinging under the pile of bags, but I do check the sounds at home. we were a bit nervous flying this time, too, but I could at least be sure the bags were on our flights with us.. PS I even put one in my carry-on, just in case…
  3. Thanks for the Bon Voyage, Roy and all! We’re all packed and will order a taxi for 11. Who cares if our boarding time is 12? We have to get out of the hotel. Pat is just heading out to get a lottery ticket for the Mega Millions for DD, as ordered. I’m kind of sad to be leaving SD , there are so many good places to eat. Next time I want to go to Fogo da Chao, a Brazilian place across the road. It sounds really interesting. if I’m not around for a while, I wanted to wish everyone a Very Happy New Year!
  4. Hello, Dailyites and thanks especially to Roy for doing what he does! I won’t be posting for a while, as we won’t have internet on board, but we are having a good time in San Diego today and eating good stuff. Tonight it’s Cafe Sevilla and happy hour for tapas. Happy hour certainly makes a difference, price-wise. we have enjoyed Split, the few times we have been there. There is a good hoho bus ride, and it is also very easy to walk around.
  5. Will you accept a little dry land food porn? On the recommendation of @SFO PETER, we went a bit early to our reservation at Gaslamp Fish House, aka Spike Africa’s and lucked in to happy hour. We ordered the pear and Brie flatbread as well as the crab cakes and fish and chips, and we managed to squeeze in a shared slice of Black Cherry cheesecake. And wine. Mucho vino! Now we are stuffed… the walk back to the hotel worked off maybe 20 calories?
  6. We made it to SD from Victoria, just an hour late(Air Canada). There were a lot of bags on the floor in the baggage area. Ours made it through with us. 😄
  7. Lucky you are driving, Copper! A number of people on the roll call have had their flights canceled, and now are having to drive.
  8. Well, we made it to San Diego, with our bags, and only a little delay while they hunted up a plane for us. Sadly, quite a number on the roll call seem to be having their flights cancelled and have to drive here! Pat is having a nap, it was a very early morning, but at least no time change for us.
  9. We’re here now, we did come in over Balboa park and quite low, but I didn’t get your picture…
  10. Looks like there’s no happy hour at all, many days- I suppose it’s because so many people have the HIA. But disappointing for those who don’t have it.
  11. Good morning, we are in Vancouver airport and Pat has gone to Timmie’s for coffee. So far, so good. Seems like our flight to SD is on time. Lots of walking, eventually they got me a wheelchair as I was flagging. I’ll be taking Tylenol tomorrow! Nexus was great, but they don’t have the mobile passport gate yet. And our bags made it, too, our AirTags notified me. welcome to @ocean sounds! Nice to see a new face among us. Thanks to Roy for all the Fleet Report and Daily news.
  12. Jacqui, we will probably try for the MD R for lunch when we board on Thursday, just in case you are around. I understand it will probably be raining…. We’re at the airport now. On our way to join you!
  13. So sorry Charlene had a bad experience yesterday. Some people are very insensitive. A bus driver should get special training! Happy Boxing Day, Kwanzaa and Hanukkah! No boxing here, I am still cleaning up after yesterday, will finish packing and try to organize the house a bit so that it will be ready for us when we get back. DD will have to do the rest, watering indoor plants, feeding hummingbirds, etc. Pat had an e-mail from Air Canada telling him to check in and I've done our health forms for the ship. We will have leftovers tonight and then we're set to go! It's supposed to be raining in SD tomorrow so I have transferred my umbrella from my suitcase to my carryon.
  14. I imagine you mean 2023? Otherwise you are already on the ship...
  15. Happy birthday, Gerry !🎂 Happy Hanukkah, too, to those celebrating. One great memory of when we lived in Virginia was the lovely spiral sliced honey-baked hams. We had to make an appointment to pick ours up and drive almost to Richmond to get it! But no hams here have ever lived up to those. We will be six this evening, (two vegans) so there will be a mix of turkey, mushroom loaf, lots of veg and DD made a vegan Queen of Sheba cake and vegan creme caramel (can you imagine that?)
  16. Actually, I'm hoping it means they have cleared away 93% of the snow!!😄
  17. Merry Christmas, Jacqui, and I hope the new year brings with it some new and happier memories than the last.
  18. Merry Christmas, Dailyites! We're just off to church, so I'll get back later. Good news here is that Vancouver Airport announced last night that they are back to 93% capacity, whatever that means! I'll say a prayer for you all at Mass.
  19. We had one of those insides behind the centre elevators. Never heard a thing, the only drawback for me was that the sofa was under the TV . Awkward! as far as size, it was good, not cramped at all. Pictures on Halfacts…. 5108
  20. I’m sorry, too, that you were knocked down. I do hope he/she apologized. Please say hello to your friends from us!
  21. Good morning! Thank you, Roy, for taking on so many duties here on CC, Happy birthday to @kochleffel today, and to our Sarah tomorrow. Hope everyone stays well for the weekend. Here things are quiet. So far, so good! There was freezing rain when Pat got up at first light to put out the hummingbird feeders, but he came back to bed and now it seems as if there is just a light dusting of snow on top of the foot and a half that was already there. We were supposed to have snow then ice pellets and then freezing rain. Hopefully now the temperature will begin rising and a warm rain will melt everything - then we're supposed to have some flooding. Everyone is asked to clear their storm drains. Today I will pack, so I don't have to think about it over the weekend. I wake up in the middle of the night and spend my wakeful moments thinking about what I must remember to put out. Pat will wait until Monday to pack, I'm sure. At least the days have started to get longer again - Spring will be here soon!
