  1. Did the busses change to a "no cash" policy? I seem to recall seeing that. And any progress on the stairs to Clarence Battery? Haven't found anything online since an article that was hopeful that they'd be repaired this year. So envious of everyone who is visiting this year! Still holding onto a thread of hope that we can fly over in July.
  2. Had a conversation with the chef responsible for the entirety of the Oceanview Cafe on the Infinity last Nov while waiting on a made to order pizza. Turns out that he actually owns a pizzeria in Argentina that his wife runs in his absence, and he's rather passionate about pizza. I didn't pry into the recipe (unfortunately) but it was certainly good stuff. (I make something around 150 pizzas per year at home using a variety of flours and have a dedicated pizza oven. Celebrity certainly makes good pizza!)
  3. This nonsensical fad IS dead and gone now, right?
  4. Having twice been on the Edge and having removed any E-class ships from our future shopping (poor layout with a horribly noisy central area, we despise the IVs, horrible lack of shade outdoors) why should the Beyond be on our list when the Edge is not?
  5. When? Almost every time I order a drink (except for at Outriggers Bar where they all learned my number by the end of day 1). I expected the medallion to work as you suggested, but it was clear that wasn't the case. Aside from the cute "automatic door unlock" thing, I found the medallion to be no better than a normal key card.
  6. Frankly, Sark is far and away better than either of them! 😉 Then again I may be a little biased, with my ancestors living there from 1565 until ~1865. 🤣 Then again, I have never visited without spending time on all 3 Islands. So I'll say that seeing a British Isles cruise without the Channel Islands falls into the "why would you even bother?" category. 🙂
  7. They would also give them a deck NUMBER, not a name.
  8. We don't use lifts either. Rest assured, so long as you know your floor number you'll be fine. We had no idea that floor names were a thing the whole time. The floor name thing is just a curiosity.
  9. The number of people who know the earlier-stated definition of either of those things is sufficiently small to call them obscure. A dolphin is a swimming mammal to 99.99% of English-speaking people, and frankly I'd be surprised if Princess actually meant the mooring definition instead of the mammalian definition. Now, while the mooring definition of dolphin shows up in 4th place, Webster doesn't even recognise 'Baja'. Google seems unable to distinguish 'baja' from 'Baja California'. Google translate thinks it's English when asked to detect the language, and correctly returns 'low' when told it's Spanish. Yup. Obscure, as in relatively unknown. Again, I doubt Princess had 'low' in mind when selecting the name.
  10. Where one sees vibe and adventure, another sees an illogical arrangement. I honestly never paid attention to floor names while onboard, but the numbering scheme I found quite helpful as they did arrange those in order. If they're numbering ships, they should at least use one number for the class and another for the ship. Ship 3-4 is the 4th ship in that series. Easy to figure out which one is the newest vs oldest within a class. I sort of like that. Or maybe class and year built. That'd help, too.
  11. 🙄 Call it a curiosity as to why people would embrace a nonsensical naming system that provides no relevant information as to the actual correlation between names and a logical set of numbers. In other words, it makes no sense.
  12. And I was thinking that there must have been something in that song that I missed! 🤣
  13. or points out how bad medallion is at doing what it's presumed to make easier. I was surprised that I was constantly asked for my room number despite standing right in front of someone with a reader. Perhaps the staff doesn't trust what they're seeing, or maybe they're instructed to verify?
  14. I noticed that happening all the time at the bars, which made me wonder why they would duplicate room numbers like they do. It has to lead to so much confusion by staff. 8-263, 9-263, or 10-263 would be much easier than "C", "D", or "E" which are similar-sounding prefixes. My original question was more in regards to guests/posters referring to decks by name and not number, more so than Princess' use of names.
  15. A UK-specific definition of lido (not the same as Italian), an obscure Spanish definition of Baha, a maritime definition of Dolphin which is a point on shore vs the ship (and how does that mean 'deck 9'?), Aloha might make some sense for an embarkation deck, but not for deck 12 full of staterooms. As reference names, those are nothing short of positively horrible.
  16. Woudn't numbers be much more clear than names?
  17. Having been a Celebrity cruiser for a decade before taking our first Princess cruise on the Regal in Jan, I'm totally befuddled by what appears to be an apparent insistence on using deck names and not numbers. Lido deck, Dolphin deck, Promenade deck...make no sense to me. In an alternate world, I'm reasonably certain where deck 11 can be found relative to the other numbers. So when I'm climbing the stairs and I see deck 9, I know there are 2 to go. But is L higher than D? Lower? what about P? Do the number of letters represent the deck number or something? Doesn't look like it. So if I'm on Dolphin and I want to go to Lido, how do I know if I want to go up or down? And then how does the floor-name math work? Throw a little alphabetical order in there, from A to P and we have something to work with. Heck, I can't even recall the name of the deck we were on. 🤣 Started with an R, but it was deck 14 and was 2 below the bar. 🍸
  18. They've priced us out as well, and with the cutbacks onboard, we're not even considering X until they get their ***** together. "Less for a LOT more" is not going to draw our business.
  19. Then I have to buy something that's otherwise unnecessary. Also seems inconvenient to unclip/reclip every time they ask me to scan the thing.
  20. Yup. Then enjoy my hot coffee with my hot food.
  21. That is definitely my preference. With a hot omelet in hand, I can grab other things and bring a hot and fresh meal back to a table. With the omelet delivery, I can either grab other things first and sit and wait for an omelet while my other food gets cold, or wait for the omelet to show up and let it get cold while I go get other items.
  22. Personally, I find the medallions annoying to carry. I haven't worn a watch in 25+ years and certainly won't pay for a holder that goes on my wrist. Lanyards don't make a lot of sense (why does something that you theoretically never need to present to anyone need to be THAT handy?) So both mine and my DWs go in my pocket. Key cards are far easier to carry. The automatic door unlock was convenient, but otherwise they didn't seem very practical on our Regal cruise. I was constantly asked for a room number, or was asked to tap my medallion on their reader. As for the ordering/delivery, we frequently saw servers wandering in circles, looking for the same person for 10+ minutes. The system seemed so inefficient, we refused to use it. Why order a drink on my phone when I can literally walk <50 ft to go get it myself, or ask the next server who happens by? I refuse to be that lazy.
  23. There is the creepy factor of it all. Disney went through the same things with their magic bands. Your Space Mountain photo is automatically added to your account because it knew which car you were in. Great. Mickey Mouse or some random cast member greets your kid by name. Perhaps creepy.
