  1. Wow...yup, that is Bucky's favorite wine. He has had a standing order for a glass of Oberon Cab with dinner for over 3 weeks now, but 2 nights ago...was told they are out. Now...they are even out of Kim Crawford SB, my go to wine. Really bummed out about that one!! There is no Sauvignon Blanc they have on board that even comes close to it. 😠 Sad, as up until now, there were no shortages. Not sure what happened in Rio, but I guess they did not pick up any supplies...and being a large embarkation port, I saw a lot of supply trucks down there when we were docked up. Maybe they were just for the other cruise ships. Not sure what happened, or why they did not bring on the wines. It's not like we are a full ship.
  2. OMG...I never thought about it. Drats...sorry about that, should have taken a picture of it. Though I did not even come close to winning...it was kinda cute with the blown up latex gloves on it. You know...the kind you really don't want your doctor wearing when you walk in to see him? 😉
  3. During the egg drop event....captain came on the speaker to tell us we were going though 60 knot winds that came up suddenly from the east. Hurricane force in fact. One door up on 12 got jammed open, bringing in rain and wind all the way into the centrum like a fine mist. Weird. Walking back to the cabin...realized the ship was tipped over a bit to starboard (wind hitting us hard on the port side). Captain even had to go off course to steer to the west a bit to get out of the broadside affect. Pretty wild off our balcony right now. 😮 He told everyone to stay off the open decks, especially promenade deck #5. Probably even more wild down there with the high seas.
  4. Well, my egg did not break...but was cracked...so eliminated. 😉 I am totally surprised it was not a total splat. That is way up there on deck 9!! Unreal amount of contestants...more than I have ever seen. I think there were 37 of us. Could not even get a look at my flight down, too many observers on the rail next to the launch area crowding me out. After I was finished, I walked down and viewed the rest of the contestants from deck 8. (I was #16). Some really cool designs! My favorite was the last one with the landing gear, but could not get a decent photo of it. A lot of contestants used the leftover balloons from the NYE balloon drop.
  5. When I got home, I decided to give the homemade pasta a go from my lesson on board. It was fun and very tasty indeed! 😋
  6. Aww that's sweet...but not needed. 😉 I stated from the beginning...this is not my live review...but simply somewhere for all of us to interact and post observations. 🙂 Plus since I am leaving on 2/11 and not rejoining again until July 10th in Barcelona...if this thread is to continue, my fellow cruisers will (I am sure) take over. 🥰
  7. Yes, they are using the term "formal". Though I don't think a lot of pax took the extra space in their already too packed luggage to take much of it. Not to mention closet space limited. Though indeed have seen some "dressed to the nines"....but for us....dressy casual is about the best we will do. 😉
  8. Shame they haven't tried to do more interesting things on this cruise. We have had plenty of sea days...lots of opportunities to get creative...but seem to be sticking to the same old...same old they do on any other shorter cruise. Oh well...have some good books to enjoy. 😉
  9. Found them yesterday for my salad, and still finding raisins...but no longer on the cashews, hazelnuts, or even Pumpkin seeds. Drats. 😞
  10. Eh...I am not an artist, craftsperson, or engineer. My creation for the egg drop did not turn out very well, but going to go with it anyway. 😬 Changed the name to :Eggstra fast omelet. 😄 Contest is at 1 pm (11 am EST) will report on how far out the egg splat went out on deck four later.
  11. Yes, and is offered again either today or tomorrow I think One of John's favorites I believe.
  12. Scrambled eggs? 😉 I have a creation in mind and will get started on it after breakfast today.
  13. Indeed that is my "go to" lunch in the WJ...then we grab a beer/wine and enjoy sitting out back in the fresh air. I get very creative with my salads...popping around at the different stations to add new things. Love the Quinoa and the barley too. 🙂 For awhile they had roasted cashews and hazelnuts...but haven't seen them since. 😞 Found I could take the coleslaw they have and add extra vinegar from the salad bar.
  14. I wish they would offer those fun cooking classes again. And not just the tired old Sushi making class...though we are going (again) tomorrow. There was a pasta making class once, I think it was on Monarch...that was so much fun. Something different to keep things fresh on sea days!
  15. That poster you quoted does not need to read this thread if he doesn't like it. Kind of like changing the channel on the TV...but yet...here he is. 😄
  16. We are doing the local cooking experience...does not meet until 7:15 PM. 😮 Will be needing a late lunch that day. 😉
  17. I do remember them being sooo good! 😄 Was a favorite thing that my Mom would make on camping trips for us kids. Shelf stable. Kind of like 30 year old Twinkies! 😁
  18. Oh yeah...that Mac and cheese in a box with mystery powder. 😄 Don't forget "Spaghetti Os" in a can. LOL!
