Haven't cruised in almost 15 years -- will I be disappointed?

Just got off of Legend and found it in fine shape. -

generalization, and not an accurate comment. DW and I have gone from Legend to Horizon to Panorama to Paradise to Legend in the same year, and they all look fine. -

Also, just know that the fights arent exclusive to Carnival. They just get the most publicity because it is Carnival (or so it seems). MSC has had a few big fights on Meraviglia, but they rarely make the news. NCL also has had them on Breakaway and Getaway. -

I believe it was Magic returning to NYC over the summer. -

look... my wife and I have been on... RC Freedom (3 day) Carnival Horizon ( 8 day) Carnival Panorama (7 day) Carnival Legend (7 day) Carnival Miracle (10 day) Carnival Paradise (5 day) since cruising resumed. Legend, Miracle, and Paradise were last year alone, and we are getting ready to board legend again on Sunday. We have not experienced issues as of yet. Cruising is what you make of it. Granted, a $hitty cruise can be a horrible experience, but we havent been having these awful experiences that have been popping up in the media. -
Long time cruiser sails Carnival for the 1st time--my thoughts.

The victory had far more boobs than the miracle. The ship had an aquatic theme, and the main dining rooms had TONS of topless mermaid statues in them. -
you are welcome!!! That bar guide was off of Paradise this past August, however I cannot recall the selection changing that much in the last 4 cruises. I board Legend on Sunday and will try to grab another pic just in case.

5207 IMO is the best cabana location wise, and the one DW and I try to get.

Muster drills to return to pre-Covid style
UPNYGuy replied to MeHeartCruising's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
this one makes sense…. I think you may have answered this on another thread, but I am curious about it. How is emergency evacuation tested on ship design? I am assuming it is tested in development with CAD, and also physically tested with volunteers (like an aircraft). Or is this not the case. -

MSC seems to do ok with this. Almost all the cruises they operate throughout Europe and the U.K seem to have multiple points of embarkation. Have they managed to figure this out? -
DW and I were on Paradise (5 day in August) and didn’t have an issue, and have a couple sailings of less than a week on Venezia. Not anticipating any issues. Quite a bit of this is the clientele on the ship at the time.

Queen Mary Tour Before Departing on the Miracle
UPNYGuy replied to Sbelville's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Are they doing them again? I knew for a while they weren’t, because the ship was in such disrepair. -
correct, but you are better off in a regular Havana Cabana vs a Cabana Suite unless the bathroom really matters, and you don’t mind hearing music in your cabin at night.
-
I was on Miracle in July and had several staff tell me it was their first contract.
-
be careful what inside cabins you book, as some are next to the Havana bar, and you can hear the band, music.
-
this is correct. Also, the Havana suites are NOT worth it. They are right by the band stand, and you hear the music. IMO 5207 is in the best spot. You cannot hear the goings on in the bar, and don’t have any obstructions in the glass. That is the cabin DW and I try to book. IIRC, the cabin directly on the other side (port side, this cabin is starboard) has a fire hose box in front of it. We ended up there on Panorama and would have booked 5207 if it were available.

I personally dont think you will ever see Acapulco again from Carnival. Too much of a negative connotation with cruisers from the U.S. But... NCL has some ships that are heading there, so perhaps I am incorrect.
-
This is (so far) correct according to goccl. In the beginning, Carnival implied it would be similar to Havana and completely private. They will have lots of annoyed (and possibly angry) people if they do not make it totally private. I have 4 bookings in the Terrazza area, and definitely prefer the totally private experience in Havana. Time will tell if Carnival changes this.
-
I really hope they change that. As of right now I have 4 bookings in the Terrazza area. That totally defeats the purpose of why I booked in there. That is supposed to be a 'ship within a ship' area. Plus there is a bit of misinformation in that clip. The Havana area is totally private, and has been for some time now, even though Duffy said otherwise. Guess I won't know until I board.
-
as far as I know, it will not be. I will be annoyed if it is. That is part of why I like the Havana area. No fighting for space. this is right off of the Carnival website, and it implies it is private.
