Karen,
No, it is not the usual way for returning passengers in most ports. Normally, continuing passengers go back on the ship with no issues.

The Mariner is in Aruba and the other four ships are in Italy.
I remember FDR saying one ship would start - it makes sense with all the training etc which needs to take place. My point about a ship with an itinerary is that it takes more office time to change all of that and reschedule the new plans as opposed to a ship with no specific plans.
Who knows!
-
rallydave,
In many ways, it would be easier for Regent to use one of the ships with no planned itineraries - the Mariner for example - but that depends on what needs to be done - physically - to the different ships. And what may or may not have been done on-board in the last few months.
As you said - Regent knows . . .
Simulated cruises: I assume that all the lines will want people. I've seen a couple of posting about people who'd like to volunteer.
-
rallydave,
I guess what I'd like to know are the posted itineraries on the Splendor going to be followed when the ship begins to sail with paying passengers.

Pcardad,
I assume the itineraries will have to be "adjusted" to be in line with the 7-day CDC requirement. Or hopefully, that is only for the pre-paying passenger trips.
What do you think?

I was thinking specifically about the Splendor itineraries published for December into March, starting and ending in Miami. The currently published ones are between 7 and 14 days.
Can they be changed? Sure. Will they - that is the question.

Pcardad,
Another clarification: the "rules" talk about 7 days or less for cruises - is that related to the "volunteer" or to the ones with passengers?

Sheila and Herb,
I hope we get to sail together after the first of the year . . . .

I guess that's fair . . . .
Any idea when the maintenance will be finished - or if its started?

No messages on the regular board since Sunday seems odd . . . . .is everything OK?

The Canal will have an official lecturer on board - usually quite good - and be sure to check the tours - there may be one or more - related to the construction/running of the Canal - which you might enjoy.

The Splendor is basically in the Caribbean from December 7, 2020 until March 25, 2021

It's not sailing, so is that Good or Bad?
Have you had "official notification" that the cruise has been cancelled?

Mom C,
I assume you're talking about the late March sailing . . . .

jjs217,
I was on to the end of the 2020WC and there was someone standing by the hand sanitizing stations in Veranda, Compass Rose and Coffee Corner to be sure we all stopped to use the sanitizers. And this was starting in late February/early March.
I agree with you, people were not always so good about doing this in the past. I think/hope we will be, going forward.

How about exchanging email addresses. That way you'd be off CC.

Does anyone have an idea where this will be posted? I looked at the web site - nothing so far.

I too wish the 23WC started and ended in the States . . . . .
And a reminder, the Explorer is supposed to do Alaska summer 2021.

Crystal,
I'd forgotten about the cinnamon ice cream - I put a reminder in my notes for whatever turns out to be my next cruise! Thanks for the heads-up!🍨🌍🚤❤️

Can't speak for the Explorer, but the Splendor will be in Miami on Dec. 21, 2020 boarding passengers for a sail through the Carib. I doubt that anyone would or could disagree with me on that.
Jay
Jay,
Do you something specific?

Carolyn,

I really don't think cruises will be going by our Feb one, even if they are, my DH won't be sailing if they are requiring masks, at east at this point. That is our choice of course, but the mask is not luxury for us so we will just wait and see.
If Canada opens by summer, we may drive the RV to Alaska again. Maybe see you in the Red Dog Saloon!
Carolyn
I don't mind a mask so that wouldn't keep me from sailing.
Carolyn,
I'm supposed to sail the end of this year - probably not gonna happen - and in January. Time will tell . . .
I'll look for you in Juneau!

I'm watching the hurricanes too . . . .
And - back to the subject of this thread - I booked tours on b2b Alaska trips in July.

Pcardad: what is "this"? The actual movement of the ships? (they are where Flossie stated) Or something else?
