RCCL Drink Prices

I have searched the forum for specific drink prices, but have had very little luck. Can someone tell me the current prices for beer and mixed drinks on RCCL?

We are going with a pretty good group of drinkers and am trying to see whether the premium drink package would be worth the money, but I don't have any prices to compare against.

Please & thank you.

Beers and well drinks are in the $5 to $7 range, plus 15% gratuity.

....and I am sure you are aware of this but to be certain, the drink packages must be purchased by all guests age 21+ registered in the stateroom - cannot be purchased individually.

Thanks, and yes, well aware of that. I'm just hesitating spending $770 on booze for us. That seems like a lot at first glance, but that's why I'm trying to do the math.

If beers are $5 and wells are $7, say we split our orders 1beer:1well, we'd need to each drink >10 drinks each per day to break even.

So if we each do this, which is "reasonable" for us, we'd be even money.

1 morning mimosa

1 drink before dinner

2 drinks with dinner

6 throughout the day by the pool, or at the casino

Total: 10 drinks @ avg $6 each x 6.5 drinking days (half Sunday through Saturday night), that equals $780 versus $770 for the package.

Seems like it might be worth it assuming we pack our drinking shoes.

Search for Gambee's Allure review -- he has pictures of all of the bar menus and you can read all the drink prices off of them. The drink prices range from $4.75 (beer) to $12 - premium tequila margarita etc.

The package becomes even more advantageous when you consider that it includes the 15% gratuity, and more expensive drinks like Mojitos, Margaritas, Long Island Ice Tea, etc.

Good point, the gratuity ups the avg price of a drink to $6.90, meaning we'd have to come in around a total of 17 drinks/day between the two of us to break even. Looking better and better.

The only downside I see is the house wine piece. I've heard the wine options with this package are less than ideal.

Yes, I agree about the wine. If they would include specialty coffee, bottled water, and glasses of wine up to $12 (with credit for more expensive wines), then I think they would get more people to seriously consider the package.

Could someone enlighten me as to what is meant by "wells" and "speciality coffees"?

A well drink is a drink you request without mentioning a specific brand, such as "scotch and water", "bourbon on the rocks", etc. A call drink would be naming a specific brand, such as "Jack & Coke" or "Jameson & Ginger".

Specialty coffee is something you would get at Starbucks, such as a Latte or Cappucino.

See, this is where I have a different view from some folks on this issue. I'm on the fence as well but after doing the math it seems like I'd be better off just ordering by the drink. That way I can get the wine I want to and whatever drink I want to each time. If I followed the same schedule you put (and I probably would) we basically come out even but have to drink house wine.

However, what if you get sick? What if you just don't feel like drinking 5 beers by the pool? You're automatically losing money by buying the package.

The only way I think I would buy the package is if I thought I would come out AHEAD. Otherwise you are just pre-paying for a package you may come out cheaper for.

Does that make sense?

Not sure if you consider this a mixed drink, but the drink of the day is 6.75, with tip I think it was 7.76.

We're sailing on EOS this Saturday (Feb 16th) First cruise for us - so we're VERY excited. Purchased the Premium Drink Package ($990 total) Seems like a lot, but to really ENJOY oursevles and not count $$'s a couple days into the cruise, it's actually a good deal. Been reading all the threads on subject and most people agree.....

Fingers crossed...

Keep in mind your itinerary. I typically prefer port-intensive cruises, where I'll be off the ship five of the six days. There's no way I'll drink enough to make it worth it.

We leave the 24, the back end of your cruise :). We will probably be purchasing this all drink package as well, so please let me know if you had any issues or noticed anything "common" that wasn't included in the premium package. Have a great time!!!

A couple other things to consider, or things that I'm taking in to consideration. I had originally ordered the wine package thinking we'd never come out ahead with the drink package. I have since cancelled that package and am now just trying to sort this out. Not being able to have a decent bottle of wine with dinner is the biggest sticking point, but I'm not a huge wino and will hopefully be just as happy with a house wine.

The other thing I'm taking into account is that by prepaying, I won't have the guilt of ordering another round and worrying about what the final bill is going to look like. By prepaying, I'm essentially owning up to being a lush ahead of time and avoiding some sticker shock at the end. My wife is typically quite a bit looser with the purse strings and I tend to get a little testy when I feel like she's overspending. Again, by prepaying, it removes that tension and let's us go at whatever pace we each want.

If you can't tell, I'm leaning pretty heavily toward buying the package.

You hit it on the head.....relax and enjoy without worrying about "how much is left in my OB account".... Besides, if I want to order a Long Island and my Husband orders Crown Royal, I don't have to have a guilt attack! :)

The initial cost was a bit of a shock, but we're on a 9 day cruise so I have to factor that into the equation. I'll post about our "experience" with it upon our return on 2/25.....

I gotta say... that is a valid point. My biggest thing is that I hate having to sign a receipt and keep up with them to check against the tv each night. My wife and I have taken trips to Sandals resorts five times and the idea of keeping the wallet in the safe, never signing for anything, and just getting what you want when you want could not be more appealing.

If I had the extra money to spend without worrying about it this would be a no brainer. But for me, and for my money, the responsible thing to do is to spend by the drink. Besides we have a $100 OBC we will also be able to apply.

Cheers!

Could you tell me what was included in the cruise price VS extra charges?

Such as Specialty Coffee's? Ice Cream? Juice at Breakfast? Johnnie Rocket Shakes?

I heard that if you purchase the Premium Drink Package Specialty Coffee's are included.

As you can tell this is my First RCCL Cruise.

All other information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
