Meet and Mingle on NCL ships?

First, go to the message board for your ship. See if there is already a thread started for your particular cruise. Don't start a new one if there is one already started. If you don't find one, start one, and hopefully some others will join you soon. There may be a party already planned.

Go to the roll call section and see if there is a roll call for your voyage, there may already be a meeting planned. NCL does not set up meetings, but if someone on your voyage organizes one, NCL is very gracious about giving a location, refreshments, and visits by staff members.

I have to say, on our last cruise, on the Celebrity Constellation, the CC party was great. And, then we all got invited for a private tour of the bridge. Just the CC group. I was impressed.

I meant to say roll call boards, not message boards.

You'd think that all lines would put lots of effort into the partys, since we are the infamous Cruise Critics!

Could anyone tell me if NCL has this for CC members? We're three families going on the Spirit in April and wanted to join up and meet other CC members onboard. Thanks.

Follow this link to the Roll call for the Spirit and see if there's one for your cruise. Someone may have already set one up.

Just a little added clarification. There won't be an official "cruise critic" sponsored event, like the Royal Caribbean "meet and mingle" or the Celebrity "cruise critic connections" parties that are advertised on the cruise critic homepage. The ones on NCL are dependent on someone from the roll-call to set something up.

NCL is normally willing to set aside a private function at one of the bars for you -- and often, the captain and other senior staff will show up, along with their providing snacks -- but it's kind of dependent on the ship. We've also just gotten together informally, without actually making arrangements through the ship. We did that on our last cruise on the Sea. We just posted on the roll-call that whoever wanted to meet up should go to the card room following the muster drill, and we had everyone from our relatively small group (20 people) show up so we could put names with faces. We ended up having a great time with several of the members from that roll-call and went on excursions with many of them, as well as joining different people for dinner in the evening.

On our more recent Jewel cruise, we arranged to meet both informally, during the sail-away in the Sky High Bar, and did arrange a reception through the ship. We wore mardi gras beads to the sail-away, so we could identify each other, and had name tags available. Most of the 45 or so people who had been posting attended and met up, and then we had about 20 people or so show up at the reception. Once again, we enjoyed meeting up with our fellow roll-call members, and got together with several of them for follow-up dinners or excursions.

Hope there's a roll-call going on for your sailing. If not, start one, and see if there are others out there just waiting for someone else to get something going.

Unfortunately, RCI and Celebrity are the only lines that can have official CC parties. NCL has been very generous in their helping members set something up but it can't ever be official with logowear, advertising in the daily, etc. because other cruise lines have exclusivity.

Yes Cecilia is right. The "Meet and Mingle" slogan is "owned" by RCI (and I have just found out Celebrity.

I have been to 2 "Meet and Great's" on NCL. One someone else organized and one I organized. I have a thread on RCL asking CC'ers experiences with their "Meet and Mingle" and it seems the same things happen. Meeting and Greeting. Except something about "Aqua Mouses" being given away as a raffle item.

  • 4 years later...

NCL did a great job of having a meeting place for us. I believe there were over 100 people on our roll call (Epic) and we had to keep moving the rooms (I think we moved 3 different times and 2 times on the actual meeting time because we were so large and needed a bigger accommodation). However, with all of this moving around, a lot of people showed up at the wrong place and wrong time and missed it. :(

They provided some snacks and showed up to meet us, giving us their "personal" telephone lines if we ever had a problem to call them. Then after the m&g, people went on a cabin crawl and I believe a slot pull.

It's all set up by someone on your roll call but a lot of fun and a great way to meet the faces behind the post. :)

I happen to like NCL's policy better because on Royal, you need a 25 pax minimum. On NCL, there is no minimum.

He brings 20 Officers and I get a microphone to get the gift exchange rolling with the Officers pulling numbers for people to pick a gift. Then a question period that they answer for CC members. Then I have had Casino Pull with everyone bringing a $20 bill to insert into a $5 slot machine. We keep a log on who won what, and we split the profits. That can be $5 each, $17 each and one time $200 each.

Then Captain Kostas sent invites to everyone who was on the list he wanted of names and room numbers, and you were invited to a Bridge Tour the 2nd last day of cruise. Cameras & Videos are OK.

Now 10/30 I am on Gem to return to Bermuda for a week. So I will see how this goes.

:) . Speaking of meet & greets. I just helped booked really good friends of ours on their honeymoon cruise and told them as soon as they register with CC to join their roll call that a really great person was spearheading the meet and greet. 49 pages? oh my goodness I've never seen a roll call that large. I hope the amount of reading doesn't discourage them :D

49 pages, Peeshaw. We're just getting started. Last years Dawn repo roll call went to 152 pages. ;)

Well then maybe I'll just recommend they cut to the chase and go to the end. I'm sure if slot pulls or gift exchanges or anything like that have been discussed through out, that it would be summarized closer to sail date? Am I right?

No real planning has started yet with exception of getting reservations to Nachi Cocom in Cozumel.

But, there is some pretty entertaining stuff in the early pages. There are 8 couples that were on last years Dawn repo cruise, and I have sailed with 2 other couples on this roll call also.

Thanks for the info I'm sure they will not be sorry if they join up. We have enjoyed our m&g's in the past and if nothing else gives a few familiar faces in unfamiliar surroundings. They are not seasoned travels, in their late 20's and are super pumped about this trip.
