Y'all are right about the MATTRESS!

Another vote for the compact Klymit air mattress :D I used it on the Adventure last month and it was perfect. The mattress weighs one pound and fits in my carry-on!

Asked for 1 on the Adventure last week and was told that they got rid of them and are longer offered because they cannot be sanitized between cruises. Whether or not that is true or not is another story.

That just doesn't make sense to me. Why would they need to sanitize a mattress topper? They don't sanitize the mattress.

Anyway, my personal experience with mattresses has been hit-or-miss. My one Carnival cruise was OK, and the RCCL cruises were some good, some OK, and one really bad (asked for a topper that time and was told they didn't have any more available).

I get that it doesn't seem to make sense, but from what I know the egg crate is made of foam and is not "breathable" and therefore you cannot properly clean it in any way - think of it like a dense sponge. The actual mattress on the other hand can be surface sanitized (although who knows if they ever do it!) :rolleyes:
