Petoonya Posted March 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2017 Is the easiest way in Papeete to get French Pacific Francs for USD in an ATM? Need some before I board ship for a tour next day that only accepts XPF.

Tahitianbigkahuna Posted March 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2017 ]We will be arriving in Tahiti late for a cruise but will be in Moorea next day. Is there an ATM at the cruise pier in Moorea? No ... The ship's desk should be able to exchange at a fair rate ;) On Bora Bora there are a few banks/ATM within a block of the tender location to exchange. FOXTROT Posted May 16, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 16, 2018 The ship does not give you a fair exchange rate. We were just in Tahiti & Bora Bora, U.S. dollars were accepted everywhere. We had gotten some XPF's before we left home. When we used them it cost us more than just using US$'s.

When you say everywhere? did that include supermarkets, small cafes , bakery in Tahiti but outside Papeete centre - say near the airport?
aquidneck1 Posted May 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 21, 2018 The Euro has a flat rate against the XPF. We found that we got a better rate if we used Euros(in 2017) than if we used USD. If you have some spare Euro's hanging around - take those. Aside from that - charge or get some XPF at the ATM when is becomes necessary.

I will be in Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora on a cruise later in the year and was going to buy some XPF’s. ?
