Cerne Posted October 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2017 HI- We are going to Nassau the second weekend in November on a RC cruise ship (Enchantment). I'm not loving any of the excursions they have to offer. Let me start with the fact that both my husband and I are going on this mini cruise to get away for a couple days (without kids). I just would really like to relax while I'm there and not feel like the whole day has escaped me. In addition to relaxing we like activities and adventures and water. He's a pale skinned guy so being in sun without any shade at all isn't an option. That said we want to see things and not stay on the ship but also don't feel like we have to spend the whole time on the island making sure we get use out of the excursion we pick. For example I like the idea of seeing Atlantis (especially b/c I would love to take my kids there one day when we find the money) but spending almost $200 to ride a water slide a couple times and hang on the beach sounds a little pricey to me. Especially b/c I have heard its super expensive to eat and drink on the premises too. Anyways, I was wondering if someone can recommend somewhere we can go in a cab and have a good time and be able to relax on the beach/water/etc without breaking the bank. Thanks in Advance! Clarea Posted October 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2017 I don't know the details, but I've read about a day pass available at the Royal Bahamian Hilton on Nassau. Magster1987 Posted October 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2017 If you want to see the Atlantis, you can check out the Aquarium and hotel grounds for way less money then the waterpark pass. Its still slightly expensive, but we loved walking around the Aquarium, then checking out the Marina outside afterwards.
dreadpirate3 Posted October 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Check out Sandy Toes, Rose Island. We spent the day there and it was fantastic.
Needz2Cruise Posted October 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 19, 2017 I don't know the details, but I've read about a day pass available at the Royal Bahamian Hilton on Nassau. You may also want to check out the port of call forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58 That's what we did in Nassau! The Hilton is just a 5 minute walk from the ship. If you do this, you should book in advance -- I'm not sure if they take walkups. I'm seeing prices of $79 online, but I'm thinking I paid closer to $60 or $65 and it includes $40 food/drink credit. If you're interested, I could try to find the link for how we booked it. It was a nice day in Nassau (and if you do it, get off the ship fairly early so you can get some chairs with an umbrella)
mjkacmom Posted October 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2017 The Melia is much nicer than the Hilton, $45, either cab or $1.50 jitney. Large beautiful beach, great pools. We’ve also done RIU for about $75 pp, all inclusive, great buffet breakfast and lunch. Atlantis is fun, it’s $129 on their website, or you could price out comfort suites to get passes. Also check out Breezes, also AI. Sandals is one of the nicer AI, $110, adults only. RIU provides chairs and umbrellas on the beach for free, they set up where you want. wolfcathorse Posted October 19, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 19, 2017 we took a taxi tour of the town ($25 pp) which showed us the main sights. We got out at a restaurant at the Fish Fry and watched how they harvested conch and got to taste it after they fried it. We also got to walk through Atlantis, and the Queens Staircase. It was informational and we felt we got a lot of value for our money. You just pick one of the guys hawking tours at the end of the pier.
Ready 2 Cruise Posted October 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2017 If you check the port of call boards, I believe there is information regarding a deal at the Comfort Inn with the Atlantis passes. That said, we were on the Enchantment last week and visited Atlantis on Sunday. A taxi van is available for US$4/per person each way. You can walk around the hotel and casino, they have some beautiful glass sculptures.
taraemm Posted October 20, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 20, 2017 The water park in Atlantis was definitely worth it, in my opinion. We booked the excursion through the ship and it was well organized and the water park and beach were both awesome.
