AARP Carnival Gift Cards-

Paid off my cruise (2 staterooms) this week using AARP Gift Cards. Heads up. Found out you can only use 5 per booking. Not too much of an issue- I bought 11- $500 cards but could only use 10 (5 per stateroom). No problem. I now have $500 to use onboard- Saved 10%, so a total of $550. Not too shabby!!

Yep, the gcs are awesome! Not sure what you mean by can only use 5 GCs...maybe you are referring to making pmts directly on Carnival’s site or maybe while onboard? I bought at least 10 gcs and my travel agent applied them all without any issues. I plan to buy more to purchase cruise cash with and will apply those before we leave.

You can only use five at one time. Come back later and use more.

Hmmm I booked thru that big box membership store, the one we know and love. I had to give them all the gift card #'s & pins and they called Carnival and had to give them all the #'s and pins. He said Carnival said only 5 gift cards per booking when paying off a cruise. New rule-? Wrong info on their part? I only know that I have always booked directly with Carnival, but get $330 in cash cards thru their travel department, too.

And I still have $500 in gift cards and I'm going to get more...:D

I used 10 $100 cards on a booking just a few weeks ago when the $500 ones were sold out.

Come to think of it, my son used five $100 ones and one $500 one to pay his Cheers and tips, six gift cards, all at once.

My sister and I use the gift cards to pay off everything on our cruise. She gets hers through a credit card promotion and I do mine through AARP. I try and buy a mix of the 500's and the 100's. We have the gratuities added right away when we book and occasionally, the travel insurance. Then we start chipping away at the balance. I currently have four cruises booked with Carnival so I just have a list of when I need to buy more cards to pay off the balances. Once on board I bring more along to pad my sign and sail account. I love saving the 10%....it's a no brainer for me! I have even used them fowards my Casino account. That way, I am up 10% from the get-go....that's about the most I end up winning anyway.

Ok- Let me take back my original post. We all know we get a different answer every time we ask a question or try something. Depends on who you talk to. I'm happy with the outcome and that's all that matters!!!!

Ok I need some help! Im new to the GC thing. Why do you get them through AARP? Can you pay as you go on paying off a cruise? Gift card here gift card there?

We get them through AARP because they are 10% off, so $100 gift card for $90 or $500 card for $450.

Yes you can pay as you go, little bit at a time as long as it is paid in full by final payment date.

Big Box store is a travel seller some people use, which we are not allowed to promote on Cruise Critic.

AARP has online rewards program. You gain points by taking quizzes. It doesn’t take very long to get enough points to pay off a cruise. I did the same. Then went back again to get some more to add to our account at check in for drinks while on board.

Every 2 weeks I buy a couple of $100 gift cards from AARP. I get $200 for $180. I applied today's purchase to my balance (and paid for my FttF). I just have to figure out how to ask for Carnival gift cards for Christmas!

So i went to AARP to buy some and they only have the regular 100. Any idea when they will add e gift back?

The easiest thing to do is simply Google AARP Rewards for Good.
