nobog Posted May 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 16, 2018 Booked 6 months ago Icelandair from Mpls. to Amsterdam with a stop in Iceland for about $2200 pp RT, Saga class. Today got a email, we are now on Delta, Delta One with real laydown seats - non-stop! What a deal! Icelandair for the return trip as scheduled. We leave tomorrow. Not bad - one way non-stop for almost 8.5 hrs in first class for the equivalent of $1100. How did that happen?
rkacruiser Posted May 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2018 How did that happen? I think you will enjoy Delta One.

buggins0402 Posted May 16, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2018 Delta One is Business Class, not First. Still a lucky happening....on a two class flight. Where did you book? Just trying to figure out how and why this happy story could have happened with two totally unrelated Airlines.:)
Globaliser Posted May 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 17, 2018 How did that happen? Just trying to figure out how and why this happy story could have happened with two totally unrelated Airlines. The OP's post suggests that they are flying tonight (17 May), and it looks possible that Icelandair expects the KEF-AMS-KEF rotations tomorrow (18 May) not to operate for some reason. They are both completely zeroed on availability displays in both directions. In that situation, FI has to do something to get its passengers where they're going, and putting AMS pax onto the DL non-stops is the obvious thing to do. I'd like to think that FI would have done this anyway, but FI's duties under 261/2004 may have played a part; in this travel direction, no US airline would have been subject to 261/2004 obligations. Whether or not the two airlines are related has got nothing to do with this.
