Jewel Alaska 7/21 to 7/28

A few quick observations on our just concluded cruise. I'll make a concentrated effort to sit down and "pound" out a more comprehensive review (with pictures) later this week.

#1: Suite 10164 (SF category corner aft). What they don't tell you is that the vents from the bakeries are on the 3rd deck directly below you. EVERY day you experience this incredible aroma therapy of fresh baked breads, cinnamon rolls, yeasty goodness wafting around your deck from below. It's subtle and not overwhelming and it seemed to be most pronounced between noon and 4pm. Absolutely wonderful.

#2: We had gotten used to having our french press breakfast coffee at Cagneys every morning on the Dawn. ALERT - No french press coffee on the Jewel at Cagneys for breakfast. A bit disappointing but we adjusted :).

#3: The Spinnaker lounge on deck 12 forward is amazing. Solid walls of windows, wonderful views and comfortable seating (chairs, lounges, couches). Much nicer location than the Dawn.

#4: Our first experience with the Chef's Table exceeded expectations. Simply wonderful, from the first flute of champagne while waiting for our escort to the dining room to the last sip of coffee (or brandy or....) with new found friends. I'll discuss the experience in much greater detail in the review (with pictures of course :)).

So that's the "tip of the iceberg" of the cruise. It was amazing. More to follow :).

Please tell me what kind of coffee maker you had in your suite?? Was it a Lavazza coffee/espresso maker?

We will be in an SF other side from yours in Sept. for a Panama Canal Cruise, how was your Butler, did he/she mention they were onboard for the next few months?

On July 6, our SF suite 8630 had the Lavazza coffee/expresso maker. Hard to make a regular cup of coffee in it. Our butler showed us twice but it was still a pain.

For those of us who do not have a suite, or a butler......do the NCL Jewel balcony rooms have a coffee maker in them?:rolleyes:

I'm not looking for something fancy, just a way to have a hot cup of coffee on the balcony before my wife gets all dolled-up for a trip to the MDR or Lido deck.

The NCL Star had one in our cabin last March, and at first I thought we'd never use it, but convenience in a powerful thing....we used it every morning. I did insist on getting decent sugar and Half n Half elsewhere on the ship, however.

Yes, there are coffee pots even for those who prefer the balconies (on all NCL ships I believe). We had one in a balcony on the Epic too.

Just got off the Jewell Sunday and was in 10164. There was a Lavazza coffee maker in the room and, even though I don't drink coffee, I did notice a french press coffee maker in Cagney's, as they were serving another table.

My Butler was Bagus from Bali. I didn't use him much, but he was great. The concierge was John, he was also very, very good.
