Call from NEW CLUB ROYALE, Rollout Phase II Casino Rewards

Got a call from Club Royale a bit ago.....

It was a welcome call and to roll out Phase II of the new Club Royale.

New Club Royale will be based off you C&A number. Phase I is complete, not sure what that was. Phase II is what the program is in now. It is a three phase roll-out. Don't know when phase III starts.....

Recognition and rewards/discounts will now be set by current recent play, not something you did several cruises ago. Sounds like it will be pay to play. No set discount, the more you play, the higher the discount and more offers. They are calling attractive (based on recent play) members today. It was based on my play on Majesty May. Offer good only today.

Wouldn't give me amounts to play to receive discounts/perks. The more you play, the better the discounts/rewards. He said more like a land based casino.

I was offered dates/ships to sail free (+taxes, port fees, gratuities). These were cruises in the next three months. Again, this offer only good today, and was for OV only. I was told that Suites had yet to be added to the new program. The Ships offered have no standard balconies, just Suites with Balconies.

I had previously received a Club Royale discount on my next two cruises but not the two in 2017. This time they gave me a Club Royale discount on the first cruise in 2017.

My Club Royale membership is my C&A number. Really no special membership as was the past, just based on current last play. Not a lifetime program but a program based on current active play. An example was given to me, that a person who plays during a cruise and is rewarded for that play, and then comes on a cruise, and doesn't play, is likely to receive less discounts/perks on their next booking, if any.

Not sure what happens to current members from old program but I got the feeling it will be based on current active play, not something you might have done a past cruise.

We talked a bit about other things, and SMOKING in the Casinos came up. I told him I was against SMOKING in the Casinos and SMOKING reduced the amount we play in the Casino. If they call you, and you don't smoke, tell them you are against smoking in the Casinos.

I can't believe that those are the changes they are going forward with! I have cruised four times this year and have gotten 20000 points all together. My next cruise in September is port intensive and I will not have as much time to play. I have three more long cruises scheduled between now and Feb. 2017. I have gotten Club Royal discounts on all of them. If the number from my September cruise mucks up the discounts I get I will happily move on to a different line.

Honestly, I have no clue how it applies to points.... I play table games almost 99% of the time. I assume points are for slots...

Nor do I know how it effects the old program for Club Royale, only the new offers to me.... I wasn't a Club Royale member, invited or otherwise before they stopped inviting new members around March. I was not invited in for my play in January, but did get a good discount on 1 future cruise which was MJ in May. Then I got a discount after MJ for our next 2 cruises in 2016 but not our 2017 cruises. Today I was given a discount on our Jan cruise but nothing beyond that.

Actually, the call today wasn't all that exciting to us, as far as the free cruises go. It was a nice offer but we declined, timing was wrong, cruises over then next 3 months. Two dates offered we were already on two other cruises.

However, I did ask about our 2017 cruises, and they gave me a discount on 1 of them.... That was nice....

Phase 1 is when they discontinued the rebates. In Phase 3, members will be assigned their tier levels. Current members from the old program will be grandfathered into the new tier levels, when that becomes available and they will continue to receive invites to CR events where as new members have to qualify for the events, ex: Slot and Poker tournaments, BBQ beach bash, etc.

I have spoken to CR a lot over the years, was even on the phone yesterday with them and never once did smoking ever come up in ALL my conversations with CR over the years. I am very surprised that smoking came up by the CR associate, or maybe you brought up the subject, which I believe happened. I'm all out of popcorn from reading your other threads about smoking. You do know Celebrity has no smoking in their casinos.

I guess you didn't realize that drinking, smoking and gambling all go together.

Best of luck to you in the casino!

All this is very confusing to me. I do know that the casino royale rate has saved me quite a bit. I've also used the perks like free cruises (I pay to upgrade my cabin) and/or a specific amount off an upcoming trip. I've got 4 cruises booked and have used an offer on each one.

I strictly play 3-card poker and Ultimate Texas Holdem. I do play a lot; probably 8 hours on sea days and 4 hours on port days. I usually play the minimum (unless I'm winning big). I'd probably play whether there were perks or not but I think the program does slightly incent me.

Thanks for that info, but this has been in play just like you described since last year. By the way I don't smoke and didn't bring it up when I got a call.....K.O. To make it a bit simpler and less confusing, depending on your play. it will entitle you to cash off anywhere from 300.00 up to a free cruise. You also get periodic offers of varying days of cruises in the mail and sometimes extra perks like a beach picnic excursion to free Tiffany and NFL tickets.....K.O.:).....That being said nothing is REALLY free....:D

There is also a $100 certificate. I received one for 500 points, and I also received a $500 for 2,000 points on another cruise.

Could you explain the tier levels more please?

It was my understanding from the adviser from Club Royale, rewards and such would be based on the amount of play one has, and the weight is higher on the most current cruise. It is like, what are you doing for me today, not what you did yesterday. Is that the feeling you get?

SMOKING - I was asked if their was anything else they could do for me... I, ME, said yes, eliminate SMOKING IN THE CASINO. We discussed this for a while. The adviser was also a non smoker but was subject to second hand smoker, who didn't like it as well. I will continue to promote no smoking in the casino as long as we like to frequent the casino and play. I see so many making it a smoking room, sitting at or near the bar and not playing... maybe they should start with play to drink... I think if you play enough they give free drinks... that would eliminate many of the smokers.

Your analogy of "I guess you didn't realize that drinking, smoking and gambling all go together." , was used when they banned smoking in restaurants. It will not hold water.... the US is now dominated by non smokers.

This is just an FYI. I traveled a lot on Royal in December, February, March and May. I earned casino points and received discounts on future cruises as well as several $500 off certificates. During my last trip in August I asked a floor person to check my point total. He said ok but he wanted me to know that changes had been made to the program and it is now harder to earn points.

Again, just an FYI, but I thought folks would like to know. BTW, I still earned a $400 off certificate on the August cruise which I have already applied to a future cruise:):). I like the new program because under the old program I got zilch!

Yes, rewards/perks are based on your level of play.

It would be best to call CR and have them explain the tiers to you, don't want to give you incorrect info, in case the tier levels have changed. When their new program is finally completed, which will be Phase 3, the perks will be different for new players, which I believe you are, compared to their existing VIP members who have been in the club for years.

Now if you are a whale of a player, perks can be unlimited ;)

Thank you. Because I was not a member in the past, I am really not concerned what they call me or do, as long as they continue to reward me for my play.

Don't know what are Whale standards on Royal, certainly don't think I am anywhere close to one. I am happy with the discounts on our already booked cruises and offers to date. We cruise and have fun. Part of that fun is spending some time in the Casino. I never bet more than I can afford to lose for a cruise. To each, that is a different amount. I have won enough to pay for our next cruise and lost about the same, but it was fun and no regrets. I know, nobody beats the house in the long run. What goes around comes around. I will continue to play as long as it is fun. We cruise about 4 times a year and this is the only planned time to gamble a bit.

It seems you think it will be play to pay, on tear levels. I have no problem with rewarding me just for my play. What about existing members, will they be expected to play similar amounts or will they get a break because they are past members ??

Never been offered a certicate of any kind. We have been offered FREE cruises and discounted cruise fares, but no certificates.

Not sure if it matters on cabin type or not. We generally book GS or higher, both buy drink packages. Last two cruises we were offered free drinks while playing in the Casino and was promised FREE drinks in Casino next two cruises, might rethink the drink package thing, but our next cruise doesn't have any Sea days, so limited Casino time. Leaving Nassau at midnight...

Hum... so you don't officially smoke but while playing in the Casino, you might smoke? Does this make you a SMOKER or not?? At least you are playing and SMOKING, not like many who use the Casino as a INDOOR SMOKING Lounge and seldom play, if ever.

Most insurance companies, life and health insurance require you to report if you are a SMOKER or not. Generally a SMOKER is someone who in the last 5 or 10 years has smoked. How do you reply?

I wonder how many CC POLICE on Tipping, Chair Hogging, and so on, fail to report this properly. You cheat at one thing, why not everything.

Actually it's just the opposite pal. On most ships there is no smoking at the Casino bar. I just got off Majesty a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised that smoking was allowed at the bar. When I asked the bartender about it she told me that they started it about 2 months ago because they didn't have enough people in the Casino.

For the 7 nights I was there it was packed solid every night. When I left around 1:00 it was still jammin' heavy. I have no idea what time they closed.

So yes, smoking, drinking, and gambling go together.

The other ships need to follow suit.

Were they playing or were many just using it for a bar and SMOKING area??

Your comparison are old, many Casino are now very successful as NON SMOKING. The time is coming.

This is not a smoking thread and I will NO longer assist you in any CR info or any other info. You are nothing but a whiner with your smoking rants and suite rants and it's not all about you--- you----you---- and what you want.

Actually they have a table game at every barstool. People would take a break, sit at the bar with their drink and CIGARETTE, and continue playing at the bar. It was awesome. :D
