Pia1913 Posted September 16, 2009 Author #151 Share Posted September 16, 2009 Happy cold and foggy Wednesday morning, where we’ve just picked up the National Park Rangers who will be giving a live presentation as we cruise through Glacier Bay all day. Most daytime activities will suspended; casino will be closed until tonight. There was an early morning trivia; we lost by one. Last night’s comic Scott Wyler was OK. I know we’ve seen him before, but he did have some new material. Some good, some bad, some awful. We survived. Tonight will be a repeat of Wyler and Motor City, which means we will need to find something else to do. Or nothing, which is fine too. Crooners has Roger Carr, the Bayou Café has the Georgetown Trio and the Rick Kilburn Quartet is in the Wheelhouse. The scenery currently floating by our balcony is absolutely spectacular. I will therefore leave you now and do some visual concentration.

regnig Posted September 17, 2009 #154 Share Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) There was an early morning trivia; we lost by one. Two times in a row! Sounds like you all need to report to the sick bay right now to get meds to fix that situation! ;):D;) You certainly can not go home without a case full of luggage tags. In all seriousness we all are hoping you feel better fast. Barb Edited September 17, 2009 by larsen
Julia’s Journey’s Posted September 17, 2009 #155 Share Posted September 17, 2009 The early and staggered dinner times are due to muster/late departure/people arriving at different times. On neither of our weeks in Alaska did we eat dinner in the middle of the afternoon - Anytime dining is a wonderful thing LOL.:D

Julia’s Journey’s Posted September 17, 2009 #157 Share Posted September 17, 2009 Pia' date=' I am following your thread. Just booked an Asia TA Alaska cruise for 2011 on the Diamond Princess. The Alaskan part is identical to the cruise you are doing now, so am very interested in what you think of it. Please get better, maybe you need a good cup of coffee and a "tim tam slam" :D[/quote'] If you are talking 'bout Arnolds Tim Tam - yummy - I have one more packet left in the cupboard which I am hoarding:D:D

Pia1913 Posted September 17, 2009 Author #160 Share Posted September 17, 2009 It's 10:30 PM here and we need to sleep fast. Early day tomorrow. We meet our Dyea Dave tour at 7:30 and will be gone all day. Thank you all for your wishes; happy to say we all feel better. Not perfect, but all on our way to full recovery. And yes, another loss by one. This time it was 50's musical trivia. Did I mention how the ship wiggled all last night and rocked all this morning? If not, you didn't miss a thing because now it's smooth as glass. I also forgot to mention that we have new mattresses and shower curtains. Pillow top thick mattress. Toto.........you would love it! :D Goodnite and/or good morning.

Keep up the good work (and live posts), it is appreciated. Ah haaaaaaa, pillow top thick mattresses? Now you have my hopes up, maybe I won't need to purchase that topper in Hawaii after all? I will keep my fingers crossed, and at least now I know you are getting some rest to get over those sniffles. ;) Enjoy your all day tour and can't wait for a full report on what you saw along the way! DonahCBrown Posted September 17, 2009 #166 Share Posted September 17, 2009 I would expect all the bedding to be replaced at the drydock - evidently Pia and Mike got a new one already - I will be speaking with the Purser's Desk today about ours - it has troughs in the middles a ridge between the beds and feels pretty much like sleeping on the rocks left by the glaciers... Raining today - we're hoping for some clearing as the day goes on, but we're off anyway to Emerald Lake and so on with Dyea Dave.

ggprincess2004 Posted September 17, 2009 #169 Share Posted September 17, 2009 Pia, Glad you are feeling better - hope you get some trivia wins in - more luggage tags! Actually, they have started to vary prizes again, needlepoint kits, passport wallets, playing cards, baseball caps......and I only need 736 more luggage tags until that free cruise!:p Pillow tops - nice! Hope they are on the Sapphire when we sail her together. I think the 7:30 to 8:15 Captain's Welcome Aboard is fleet wide - lousy champagne.....but we actually made a champagne waterfall! Keep enjoying! Ginger

Pia1913 Posted September 17, 2009 Author #172 Share Posted September 17, 2009 The weather finally got us. What a yucky day to start a 7:30 AM excursion. It was dark, it was cold, it was pouring. And to make matters worse, it was major foggy. I am going to let Donna give you the full report on Dyea Dave, the tour operator that lots of CC folks have been raving about. We got back at 3:00; full day. Grabbed something at the Horizon and will now relax before 6:00 PM dinner. Tonight’s entertainment is the production show DANCE, and something called Concert at Sea which is a trio of a flute, guitar and accordion. Right now I’d like a nap, but have no time. BTW, won the morning show trivia question 2 days in a row. Got something I really needed; a passport wallet. ;)

lv2cruiseanywhere Posted September 18, 2009 #175 Share Posted September 18, 2009 Pia, I have been enjoying your live posts; great work! We will be joining your cruise from LA to Ft. Lauderdale on September 24th; it's our second time on the Coral (and we have been through the Panama Canal several times) but we are anxious to get on board. Hope you and yours are feeling wonderful by then. I was concerned about the cruise when I heard it was the last one before the "dreaded drydock" in Florida. I was very happy to hear about the new mattresses; I hope that includes Baja Deck. We will have fun even if we still have the old ones. Does this mean you didn't have to request an eggcrate topper? I think we may also be on your Ft. Lauderdale to Barcelona cruise on the Ruby. We sail on April 19, 2010. We are very excited since this will be our first trans-atlantic cruise. Thanks again for all of the information. Mary New Princess Elite Member
