How are the suite guest perks working out?

Just curious as it has been a few weeks since this was introduced and not heard much about it in a while...

Are the sunloungers in the "reserved" area being used? what about the preferred seating in lounge, and WJ for lunch etc?

Any suite guests that have experienced this, care to comment?

I will def take advantage of the sunloungers, but doubt I will use the reserved seating in show lounge. I would rather give it up for older folks or disabled etc..that prefer a better view/seat...

We used the lounger perk in March and loved it. We also liked the ability to go to the front of the line when using the tenders and the reserved seating in Portofino during breakfast and lunch. In fact, we are going on another cruise in December and booked another suite.

Sounds like it is working extremely well. I am jealous but you deserve it paying the extra $$ for it.

I had read comments on here that many of those loungers were empty most of the day..??just wondered if that were the case, or if there are the "usual" chair hogs for them too?

Can you tell me if they are they near the Sky bar where all the smokers are?

Has any taken advantage of the Luggage Valet Service at all? We will be staying in a Grand Suite on our Oct 27 sailing on the Jewel and are planning on using it at disembarkation time. It will come in handy since we have 2 young children, one of which is still in a stroller. Now I'm wondering since we are flying American, when and where do we pay our luggage fee.

We flew delta, the $15 per case were added to our onboard account.

The $20 each was also on there but we were told it would be taken off. It wasn't!!! Found out when I checked my cc , called c & a and they had no idea what I was talking about!!! They transfered the call to the "luggage dept." .They, also, did not know about the new benefit so I got their email address & sent them a copy of the new benefits.

They sent me a "thank you " email & have given us a credit.

We loved being able to take our food into Portofinos.

The loungers were on the level in front of the sky bar on the Navigator, but we didn't notice any smokers. There are also a couple of top rows on each side that are reserved as well. There were people that did save their seats with towels/magazines/etc. but not for a long period of time, they appeared shortly after we got there. We didn't try the luggage service as my kids are old enough to haul off their own stuff!:D

There has been postings about suite passengers getting reserved seating near the main pools. On FOS, where exactly would this area be and how does it work? Do they reserve enough chairs for all Suite passengers or is there "X" amount and first come first serve for suite passengers in this area. Also and wherever this area is, are smokers nearby?

Would there also be a resrved area on Labadee?

Thank you.

Have to have a suite colored card to get the perks, sorry, no one else. I did use the valet luggage perk on Sept 27 on FOS and was only charged the $15 for the 1 pc of luggage, the form said $20 but was wrong for NWA and only $15 charged. The other $20 fee was waived. Sweet deal and so very, very handy. Had lovely breakfast in auxillary dining room and then just walked off the ship. Best debarkation we have EVER had. We also used the special seats for shows, pool and eating in Chops for breakfast and lunch. RCCL is doing a great job with the suite perks, imho.

What happens if not everyone in your party is in a suite. Say you want to sit by the pool in reserved area--two of us are in a grande--the other 2 are in D1. Is this like the CL?

They will check your seapass card so only suite guests will be allowed.

Best perk of all was being able to eat our breakfast or lunch in Portofino where it was nice and quiet.

We still had to get our food from the buffet in the normal way but waiters brought us drinks etc.

The pool loungers were not really used as it was a port intensive Med cruise and it was raining most days

On one occasion we sat in the reserved area in the show lounge as we thought the show would be popular but there were plenty of other seats so the reserved seats were not really needed.

We got a few nice extra perks for being in the Royal Suite though ;)

As far as the seating by the pool on the Voyager and Freedom class, the suite area is in the tiered section on one or both sides of the pool bar below the sky bar. When we sailed on Mariner it was only 1 side and never looked to full. Definitely not enough seats for all suite guests, but appeared to be plenty for our sailing.

For the person asking about smoking, I belive most ships allow smoking at the sky bar so if you use these reserved seats sit in the lower tiers if you are really sensitive.

What extra did you get for being in the Royal Suite? My 60th birthday is next Sept and we are thinking of booking the Royal Suite on a short 5 night cruise on the Granduer. Not such a grand ship anymore but the room would be sweet. :p Just not sure if it will be worth it.

It will depend very much on the ship, the concierge and the Captain. apart from the extra facilities in the suite which are different on each ship - see my signature for a link to some photos.

We were met at check-in by an officer and escorted onboard by a different gangway and taken directly to our suite. Our luggage was brought to us immediately.

A bouquet of red roses, a bottle of champagne and chocolate coated strawberries were delivered to us on the first day.

We had a private invitation to the galley - which we did not take up and a special invitation from the captain to a private, champagne sail-away on the bridge - which we did accept.

As I said, this all depends on the people involved but I can tell you, you will be treated in a very special way by everyone. Staying in the Royal Suite is a very special experience and is a lot more than an extra large cabin .

The suite perks have worked out well for us, altho we haven't used all the perks yet (on 2 cruises...Liberty & Mariner). Hubby enjoys the reserved pool seating; I'm not a big "sunaholic" so I haven't used this perk. The reserved seating at the ice show is great; no other shows for us in the theater so haven't used those yet. We really enjoyed the bridge tour/captain's cocktail party on the Liberty; on Mariner it was a non-bridge party which was nice but don't know if we'd do it again if not on the bridge. I take it that its up to the particular captains where the party is. The 2 Concierge Lounges have been very nice & the concierges very nice & helpful. I did notice on the Mariner (we took this cruise after the perks had gone into effect) that the ability to go in front of everyone tendering was not in effect; in fact, the staff had never heard of that perticular perk. Would've been great as the day we tendered they closed a tender line & it took 45 minutes to get off. However, no harm done as all in all I think the perks that we've taken advantage of have been pretty successful & enjoyable.

Will see how it goes on the Serenade in 5 weeks!!!

carkosh-pleasae report on those after your cruise. Being it is not a Voyager or above class ship-I believe lots of those new enhancements are not on the Serenade!:(

When we were on Independence last June the new Suite perks had just started and I have to say were very nice and worked well. So much so that after a cruise with P&O which was already booked in September in a Suite we can now say we will not cruise P&O again assuming we continue to book Suites. Royal Caribbean offers us a much better deal.

I will be glad to (just gotta remember :)). This will be the first time for us on this particular class so will be interesting to see if the perks are the same.
