Specialty Dining

We will be on the Emerald the Week of 11/29. What would be the best nights to book the Specialty Dining instead of going to the regular DR?

We read then posted menus everyday & decide at that point. If you have a suite the steward will bring the menus the night before for the whole day.

We are not in a suite, but we did happen to get c753 AFT. I thougt that as soon as you board you have to make the reservations because they become booked on some evenings.

Sometimes you can get lucky, but if you want a particular time frame I would book the first night. You can do a search and figure out which meal you would rather skip. When you get on board, ask which night that theme meal is and schedule specialty for that night.

It's best to book ASAP. Maybe someone who has sailed very recently can tell you what the dinner themes are so you have an idea of when to book. We usually book the alternative dining venue for French night (bleck :p ).

 

If no one posts, then go to the Roll Call section for your ship and find a post with people that have just sailed or are on the ship now and post your question there.

Do the specialty restaurants have formal nights? Or is it just for the main dining rooms?

I tend to make my reservation for "formal" night(s).:cool: I don't even own a suit let alone a tux.

The specialty restaurants are supposed to be "smart casual" every night, even on the nights that the regular dining rooms are formal.

You can dine anywhere you want on formal night, from the main dining rooms to the specialty dining rooms to the buffet or any other venue that has food at the dinner hour. Of these, only the main dining rooms have the suggested formal night dress request.

The afternoon you board, there is a table set up outside one of the specialty restaurants, and it is staffed. They have the menus for the cruise there, just ask to see them and then decide which evenings you would prefer to dine in the specialty restaurants.
