Happy Sailing Posted November 25, 2009 #301 Share Posted November 25, 2009 Dream Staterooms Here are some pics of some balconies you may like to see that we took on our 10 days of cruising on the Dream out of NYC. The views are looking down on the Lanai. Actually, the Lanai is a very, very nice place to take a stroll completely all around the ship with tables and chairs in some areas to enjoy your fav beverage. And it's nice to look down and see lights and people strolling, especially at night. The higher you get the less you see of the Lanai, unless you look waaay over the railing. The ship is really a beautiful work of art and we enjoyed the CTN and 8 Day right after from NYC immensely. Enjoy! (hope the pics turn out) will send pics in next post as these did not turn out. The first pics are of the Cove Balconies and the view to the Lanai. The Cove cabins are very nice and really close to the water if that is what you want. I would like to try one someday but first talk to people who have been in them at 25ft waves like we had last week on the Dream but Captain did a great job...really rough but expected. No prob at all otherwise.

We had two Spa Balconies on Deck 12 - 12211 and 12203 as we enjoy the perks and Spa Deck the most as we use the T pool and Thermal Suites a lot. The only thing with some of the Spa Deck 12 cabins is that most do not have a completely covered roof but only 1/4 roof so choose wisely or someone can look right overhead from the Serenity onto your balcony. Cabin 12203 near the end cannot be seen from the above the Serenity Deck. Enjoy!

Be prepared to get ON and OFF on the 0 (that's Zero) Deck and not the Atrium as the ports authorities say the Ramps or entrance won't accomodate the height of the 3rd floor. No prob, but not too pretty but that's okay. Elevators are right there and VERY VERY crowded with all passengers boarding. One pic shows the ship and the Zero deck and people getting on and off the ship. Other picture shows a blurry pic of the Serenity deck passengers looking over right above the Spa Deck Cabins on the 12th deck. No big prob. But we liked 12203 with no one above us. Picture shows the Lanai deck with the chairs out in the nicer weather and lots of room for people to pass. And view from our 12th Deck balcony. Your will LOVE the Dream as there is something to do for everyone. Just hope for good weather. Our second trip was very nice but the North Atlantic is not kind at times with bad wind and rain. Cheers, Geri & Jack Last pics of Dream Cruises. Spa Cabin 12203 on the 12 Deck. Our cabin is just like all the rest of the cabins in size and all. The balcony is the same size too. The Serenity Deck is above us and the Spa is right outside the door. Picture of Todd and Geri. And a pic of John Heald and Geri. Pic of very quiet Promenade on 4th floor as well as the 5th. The crew were great, the dining and room staff were great and the Steakhouse was devine. Our Dining room was Crimson downstairs and food was as good as always and choices for everyone. The Tea parties were super as well. One caution - there are no railings in the elevators, on the public walkways or Promenades so be careful in rough weather. Maybe they will install them later on. Finally, the M&G on the CTN was fantastic thanks to all concerned. Tons of fun meeting everyone. Bye for now, Geri
Happy Sailing Posted November 25, 2009 #305 Share Posted November 25, 2009 I have a question. Is the Dream Spa area set up like the Spendor Spa area? Please some pictures. Also if you have a chance a picture of a SPA Balcony Cabin. Thanks Leedm Dec 3, 2009 Our SPA Balcony Cabins were 12203 and 12211 on both cruises on Deck 12. LLD Posted November 26, 2009 #307 Share Posted November 26, 2009 Anybody have any information or photos of the cabins with 2 bathrooms? Carnival changed the category codes for the cabins and I believe the category with 2 bathrooms is the 6K or 6L. Sounds interesting and I would enjoy more info. The Dream looks fabulous--I may have to book something! Nice to dream about the Dream! LOL!

It's really hard to tell just how 'junior' they are without something to give it perspective. Anyone??? I took a picture of a tub in one of the cabins with two baths. Here is the pic. The balcony spa cabin beside me on the 12th deck had two bathrooms and is the same layout as the regular cabins except the entrance is at the end of the hall and you walk in from a side door and the two bathrooms are on the left side by side instead of the regular entrance. Everything else is the same layout.

At no time can you see directly down to the water edge of the ship from the Balconies except when on the Lanai in one of the round areas. The Lanai is really nice to walk around and take short cuts to another part of the ship also. A whole new concept. But the 6th, 7th and 8th deck balconies are very close to the Lanai and some of the hottubs, very close. But it's pretty at night to look down and see the lit lanai with people walking around it. More misc pics. Freeport was the best port close to the ship. They set it up so beautifully right next to the ship. The Pasta Bar was really nice. You sat down, filled out a form with your choices, handed it to the cook at the bar, sat down and waited for your meal to be delivered to you with salad and bread and your meal choice. No line ups. Hope I am not boring you but we had such a great time on this fantastic ship. There were flaws, crowds, narrow halls, same old waiting lines in Lido etc. but nothing too great - all in all the ship was over the top. Had to walk right thru the casino to get around etc. Lots of bars and lounges, beautiful dining rooms. Some good service, some not so good service. We were lucky in the lower Crimson DR. People loved the open sitting they told me. Geri

Only downside is they might seal the balcony door if expecting really high seas, but you still have a great view. When just windy and rainy, you are very sheltered from the storm. LLD Posted November 26, 2009 #314 Share Posted November 26, 2009 Thanks for the photo! I have two more questions--Is there counterspace on the vanity or is that vanity very small? Also, the tub--is there a showerhead in there so you can take a shower or can you only use the bathtub to take a bath? I know I am asking a zillion questions! Thinking of boooking a room like this for myself and friends and it would be handy to know! Thanks for any more info you can give. Happy Thanksgiving! :) :)
carncovecruiser Posted November 26, 2009 #315 Share Posted November 26, 2009 The tubs aren't full size and they do have showers. There may be some hidden space on the vanity area, but I don't think much The other bathroom is a regular full bathroom (shower only)
Happy Sailing Posted November 26, 2009 #316 Share Posted November 26, 2009 I've finished uploading my pictures to PhotoBucket. I picked the best of the 671 and ended up with 409. Enjoy, please!!! http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/ff313/mach_man/Dream/ Mach, Thank you for the great pictures and reporting during our cruise. You did a good job and made our cruise that much more pleasurable. Thanks to all else who helped organized our fun Meet & Mingle and with great souvenirs. Well done! It's too bad the embarkation caused many more people to miss the M&M. I believe we were 100 CCers total. Hope to see you all again one day on another cruise. The cruise was just what you make it to be and we made it fun. Weather and all! Cheers and best wishes to you and Stitch. Geri & Jack

cruise4two22 Posted November 27, 2009 #319 Share Posted November 27, 2009 Your pictures of the Dream are fantastic. I can't wait to have my own. Cruising in 2010. Hehehehehee... I used the same comment when I called in on Todd and John's morning show. John asked what kind of cabin I was in and I responded 'A Cove'. He asked what I thought about the proximity of the cabin to the water line and I told him I had brought along my Popeil Pocket Fisherman. ;) Time after time I'd stick my head out of the balcony to watch the waves surge down the side of the ship, rolling over the windows of the Ocean View cabins belows us. I think the cabins are brilliant and, good news, when you sit on the foldable, stowable chairs on the balcony you can still see the sea! :)

Officially there are never more than 2 elegant nights on a Carnival cruise, no matter what the length. http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Formal_nights_in_the_Dining_Room.aspx Even though some may dress for Christmas dinner, it is unlikely to be a "formal" night because many need to pack their suitcases early. I have always thought it somewhat odd that Carnival can't manage (or don't think their guest care for) an additional "elegant" evening when they have cruises of 12+ nights... Don't virtually all other lines (excluding NCL I suppose) have additional formal evenings on longer sailings? Tom

Don't virtually all other lines (excluding NCL I suppose) have additional formal evenings on longer sailings? Tom I've never heard of a cruise line having a formal night the night before disembarkation, which I think the Christmas cruise will be, except for .some snooty ones that are always formal, {that didn't sound right before, and not perfect now, but is mo' bettah...} I think it is pushing my luck to wear a suit for more than 2 nights before spilling something on it, so 2 is enough for me. I know the food doesn't care what I wear, but I do care how much food I wear.
