Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted November 28, 2009 #326 Share Posted November 28, 2009 I think it is pushing my luck to wear a suit for more than 2 nights before spilling something on it, so 2 is enough for me. I know the food doesn't care what I wear, but I do care how much food I wear. LOL - there are some foods which I am glad they don't serve at dinner, otherwise I stand a chance of ruining a shirt. A couple of occasions with buffalo wings come to mind! Tom
Happy Sailing Posted November 28, 2009 #327 Share Posted November 28, 2009 On the last cruise last week, the 8 day cruise on the Dream to the Bahamas - they had 4teas (on days at seas); 1 Past Guest party with pins and tons of free drinks and hors d'ouvres in the Theatre for past cruisers; 1 Captain's welcome and Elegant night combined , which took place all around the ship to meet him and then a formal brief introduction of Officers in the Atrium much later with drinks $1.00 off; then the Farewell Captains night with all kinds of free drinks in different bars (we went to the smaller bar Caliente with less people) (while Captain still circulated around Ocean Plaza) we did not see him; and 2 Elegant nights as well. It was a fantastic cruise and we went to the Steakhouse twice (once on CTN and the 8 day B2B after) and the Steakhouse is still phonemenal. I had the 24 oz Porterhouse and it was out of this world. One cannot expect to eat it all, usually. Our Spa Cabins 12203 and 12211 (people can see you from above in that cabin 11 and someone three a cig butt on our balcony) and on 12th deck did not have any noise; creaks, cracks, bumps - nothing - only gentle rock and roll which lulled us to sleep. We were lucky. And the Spa was to die for as usual. There were so many musical groups on board that we stayed up half the night listening to them on the Ocean Plaza deck - especially the Salsa musicians and watching the guests salsa dancing - extraordinary where anyone can join in singularly or whatever. They were so talented the Salsa band. Fantastic Reggae band played a lot of time on the Lido mid pool - but without a cover in rain and cold weather the pool and deck is useless and cold. That's why you never see anyone there during bad weather, sadly. Also, the laser lights are fantastic. Pasta bar is to die for and Tandori also. Same Dining Room menus, which are still great. Enjoy your trip everyone. We sure did and even the really, really, really rough seas on the CTN. We hung out in the lounges and casino where it was less noticiable. But, yes really, really rough walking when it's rough. Should be calmer and perfect in the Carribean, hopefully. Any questions - just ask away. Cheers! Rare jimbo5544 Posted November 28, 2009 #329 Share Posted November 28, 2009 I have always thought it somewhat odd that Carnival can't manage (or don't think their guest care for) an additional "elegant" evening when they have cruises of 12+ nights... Don't virtually all other lines (excluding NCL I suppose) have additional formal evenings on longer sailings? Tom Never thought of that (except when on a longer cruise). I agree they should have another one.
LLD Posted November 28, 2009 #330 Share Posted November 28, 2009 Carncovecruiser--thank you soooo much for your photos and I look forward to booking one of those cabins with the 2 bathrooms! Told my friends I have first dibs on the tub bathroom! My vanity and my tub! LOL! The extensive amount of information you have provided has been so wonderful. Thank you and thanks to all who have contributed to this thread! Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

Thank you for your comments. Alan K Alan - we were in 12204 on the Oct 15th Med sailing. You're going to love it up there, especially on the port side. Only 8 cabins up there, so it is very private and quiet. I felt like I was on a private yacht up there! Marty
beemergal Posted December 1, 2009 #335 Share Posted December 1, 2009 What I am really trying to figure out, we have a balcony on deck 10.. about 8-10 cabins from the bow.. will we look down at the water OR is the path still sticking out so far?? I was hoping it would cut back in towards the front Camp Carnival.. I will have a 6, 8 and 11 y/o AND an almost 13 y/o in Circle C (?) THANKS! Stephanie I don't know if you can tell from these photos, but I shot these pictures of the Dream from the Sensation while we were all docked in Nassau on 11.27.09. You may be able to detect deck 10. Rare Manatee Mom Posted December 1, 2009 #336 Share Posted December 1, 2009 Officially there are never more than 2 elegant nights on a Carnival cruise, no matter what the length.http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Formal_nights_in_the_Dining_Room.aspx Even though some may dress for Christmas dinner, it is unlikely to be a "formal" night because many need to pack their suitcases early. This will be our 5th Holiday sailing, they have in the past moved formal night to be on Christmas Eve (even when it was the last night) but every CD is different and may do things differently
purpleblanket Posted December 1, 2009 #337 Share Posted December 1, 2009 My question is about spa balcony room 11244 on deck 11. This is the room we've booked and from the photos it appears to be below the treadmills or some other "dead" space. Can you let me know, if there would be a problem with noise above us during the day or if we should switch to the other side of the ship and be below the sauna. We were told 11244 side of the ship would be better for viewing land coming into and out of the ports on eastern carribean but I think if I had to pick I'd rather go with the noise room. Thanks for your advice. Debbie

Do you think we should change or will this be a decent room? Definitely change that! I just got off the ship and my cabin was just above yours. My feet still hurt because all of the fun stuff is in the back of the ship! Everytime my son wanted a drink I had to get ready for a hike. The nightclubs, kids clubs, buffet, comedy club and just about everything except the encore theater and spa are in the back. Move it !! If I sail her again I will not get a forward cabin again. Happy Sailing Posted December 4, 2009 #343 Share Posted December 4, 2009 For some reason there was no noise, creaking, cracking on our 12th Spa Deck a few weeks ago in cabin 12203 on the B2B cruises. There was very gentle rock and roll which lulled us to sleep at night. During the day we used the Thal pool, thermal suites until it got too rocky. Then we just sat and watched the musicians. It was really, really hard to walk inside the ship's decks. The dining rooms shook, rattled and rolled also at times. On the 1st B2B cruise from NYC it was terrible, terrible wind, heavy heavy rain, high high seas and 25 ft waves, heavy heavy fog and ship's horn going every minute one whole night (by Law they said) and yet the Captain did a great job getting through it all. The pools have no roof so one can't use the Lido deck and pools at all. during bad weather. And still there was no noise or nothing but rock and roll in our cabin at night. We don't mind this type of weather but would really prefer the sun and good seas. We made it to our Platinum and we are now ready for the Magic. The ships handle to well through storms like this. All in all we still had a great time meeting new people, doing new things and exploring this beautiful Dream Ship. Cheers,
bjd2 Posted December 28, 2009 #344 Share Posted December 28, 2009 I was in 6490, the last balcony on the port side before the aft wrap, it was an L shaped room with an extra long balcony. It had 2 chairs, a small table and a lounge chair on it. Happy cruising, Laura Hey Laura, I'm booked in 6490 with teenagers in 6488 across the hall for 2/27 Eastern sailing. I've seen a few pictures of the room, and have stayed in a regular (not L shaped) balcony before. Was this room any larger? How was it? Tell me tell me!! divetrash Posted January 22, 2010 #347 Share Posted January 22, 2010 Hey Laura, I'm booked in 6490 with teenagers in 6488 across the hall for 2/27 Eastern sailing. I've seen a few pictures of the room, and have stayed in a regular (not L shaped) balcony before. Was this room any larger? How was it? Tell me tell me!! Hi sorry for the delay in reply, I haven't been around much. The room isn't really larger, in fact it may be a little smaller, or that could just be because of the way it is set up. If I'm remember correctly it didn't have a couch, just a chair and it was a little tight getting around the bed to the bathroom. Particularly if your partner likes to sleep with their feet sticking off the end of the bed! It had all the same closet and shelf space of a regular room. And because of the where the door is located, it's super quiet. No hallway noise that I noticed at all. The balcony more than makes up for the space that the room lacks. It's very nice with room for a lounger, 2 chairs and a small table. I liked the room a lot and wouldn't hesitate to book a similar one again. They only other issue is that when you've been partying a little too much, when you return to the room, that hallway seems endless... Or that could be because I couldn't walk a straight line and with all the bobbing and weaving I probably walked twice as far! LOL! Happy cruising! bjd2 Posted January 26, 2010 #348 Share Posted January 26, 2010 LOL thank you very much for the reply! I will no doubt experience some weaving while walking down the hall! My teenagers are staying in the interior across the hall from us so I'm glad it sounds like we can all enjoy our balcony. 31 days & I'll see for myself :)
sfollenius Posted February 17, 2010 #349 Share Posted February 17, 2010 Hello Mach, I'll be on the 11/23 sailing in stateroom 1442. There seems to be a crew area beside my stateroom. Can you find some information about this area? I'm a little worried that it might be noisy. Thanks and have a great sailing! Hi Tangocherie, how was the room? I have the same one for an upcoming cruise? Thanks!
