Which itinerary/ship to go with?

We're planning on cruising from San Juan on March 27th. Just my wife and I. There are 2 options, which is better...

Celebrity Summit

St. Thomas-St. Croix-St. Kitts- Antigua-Guadeloupe

RCL Serenade of the Seas

Tortola-St. Maarten-Antigua-St. Lucia-Grenada

Thanks for any tips/advice in advance!

Nobody on this board can tell you what is better for you. It's like asking us to tell you if chocolate or vanilla ice cream is better.

There are pros & cons to each. I have never sailed Celebrity but it's billed as more upscale. It's owned by RCI. RCI is billed as more active -- rock walls, ice skating etc. Check your particular ship for details.

Read reviews of both ships & look at the pictures. What looks more appealing to you? What is the price? I almost always vote with my wallet. Also check out the ports of call board to see what each stop holds. They are all great islands. But does something at one stop make you go "wow I gotta do that!"? If so, book that cruise.

Vanilla!!

I love these posts where people do not tell you what their interests are, how much they want to spend, how old they are, how active they are, etc., etc., etc. and then want the rest of us to give them advice.

Do they realize how dumb their question is? I doubt it.

If you want lots of activities and a very active cruise, with lots and lots of kids, go with RCI. If you want a more upscale cruise with better food and service, fewer kids, but with a more sedate and elegant atmosphere, go with Celebrity. But understand no one here can tell you what cruise is better for YOU. This is something that only you know. We all have our favorites and opinions, but in the end, only you can determine what's best for you.

As far as the itinerary, after visiting most of the Caribbean islands, I find they are all pretty much the same. Same beaches, similar views, same shops and all that.

Here's the thing...even tho RCI may have more "activities", you don't have to join in! That's what's so great about cruising...do as much or as little as you want! Read the daily schedule and plan away--or not! Veg on your balcony or by the pool, or spend your time (and money) in the casino or bingo hall!

A cruise is what YOU make of it...and you can have a wonderful time on either line! Now, you just need to decide which ports (if they're even truly important to you) to visit!

Hi Don

I am new to this board and also noticed that Mueller who started this thread is as well.

I have question for you that I am hoping is not stupid - do you think your post is welcoiming or even polite for that matter? We all have to start somewhere and as this is a world wide site sometimes the terminology is different or we just have so much in our head that we do not ask our question in the right manner.
