Suite Perks

I was thinking we could use this tred of describing suite perks.

What is the bennefits of booking a suite - we all know of extra space and dubble C & A points.

Is it still VIP pick up in the terminal by a officer to get smooth onboard ?

You should book a suite because you want the space....the "perks" that are given to you aren't truly worth the price you pay....so if you're paying extra to get a "free" drink or two, (and, of course, they're NOT free---you PAY for them in the suite price!!!) you will not be making the most cost-effective choice!

If you like comfort, and space...and it will make a difference in your vacation, then book the suite!

Agree with the above post.....We have stayed in many suites and even in several RFS and no VIP Officer service in the terminal other than of course the "Suite Line"...We always enjoy our suite for its space and hope you will too !!

We were in the Royal Suite on Voyager and we were met at check-in and escorted to our suite (by the concierge). Our bags were delivered to us almost immediately. I think they make a point of giving priority to bags for the RS.

I think this is only done for the Royal Suite.

This also has happened to us, only when staying in the Royal Suite. We have been escorted onboard by either the GSM, or someone from Guest Services.:)

I could have quoted any of the posts in this thread because we pretty much all agree.:) But I was so excited that this was a subject where you and I could actually have a meeting of the minds so to speak. :D So here I am trying to have a brand new beginning.......:)

That is what I am waiting for - a chance to experience the Royal Suite! :D We have tried every other cabin type except the Royal. However, I am thinking I may still be waiting for a while.......

I've been in the Royal Suite twice and have been herded on with the rest of the cattle, but no complaints here. On my upcoming 2 cruises I have the Royal Suite and I'll have my hoofs shined...LOL

The only reason wh have booked a GS or better is for more real estate. The cabins are very nice. We usually book a JS and have plenty of room there also.

As D+ we still get to use the Concierge Lounge and are invited to the parties. We don't use the roped off pool area or the reserved seats at the theater.

If the GS price is close to the JS price we book it.:)

As above posters have pointed out....I guess RCCL doesn't consider the RFS as "Sweet" as the RS...But like I said we do it for the space and comfort it gives our family when we all sail together...Otherwise I am completely happy with any type of "sweet suite" when it is just DH and myself....Enjoy your suites as much as we do...:D

In Galveston, How is boarding?

Specifically, while in New Orleans, taking Carnival,

they let in anyone at the VIP check in.

Took about a hour and half, for about 8 couples.

They had one teller in VIP to type in all information,

and had to keep going out, to the other tellers to get their card key.

Or is this normal everywhere?

Just want to know what to expect.

I guess I should ask closer to our date.

But want to get some thoughts and experiences.

Last November 2002 my family (DW & 2xDS's) cruised Explorer o/t Seas. My boys at the time were 5 & 7 and we booked a D1. Once the sofa bed was pulled out at night it was tight. We were just on Freedom this past November and boys now 12 & 15. Not old enough for their own inner and too they are big for a D1. So we booked a JS. About 2 1/2 months pre-cruise I saw a price drop for the GS that worked out to an extra of $400 or $100 pp over the JS. I jumped on it! As others here have said, the"real estate" factor is definately worth it. Even with the sofa bed out for my boys it was huge! Not to forget the very large bathroom with double sink and tub. As for drawer /closet space, even with 4 of us we did not use everything. As for the double balcony, we had 2 lounges with small table between as well as a full sized round patio table and 4 chairs and still room to walk around. As for the other perks, we did use the reserved poolside seats as well as reserved seating at ice show and main theatre. Finally, I also liked the option of using Portofino off the WJ for breakfast/lunch. While I enjoy sitting in WJ, I just could not find a table at breakfast and I liked the option of having access to Portofino's to eat. In summary, if you can afford it - go for it!

We're in a GS on the Explorer next week. the price was to good to pass up. I have a question on taking your breakfast/lunch to Portofinos. Did you just get your food and walk in? I think this will be a great option, as it is often hard to find seating in WJ at peak times.

That's exactly what you do. We thought Portofino's seating was a really useful perk. Plus, it was quieter in there and you always had a lovely view because there were not too many people.

I think the first time that we did it we had to show our seapass cards to show we were in a suite and then afterward they knew us. By the third time we were in there they knew exactly what my daughter wanted to drink. I think, in fact, this is one of my favorite perks!

Just off the IOS in Novemeber 2009. Had to ask at check in for the escort to the RS, but this was provided by the Suite Concierge, who is a Senior Officer on board (as we were told by the Hotel Director). Was also advised by same that this was provided for the RS and RFS only.

The availability of Portifino seating for breakfast and lunch was a real perk. No searching for a table, and beverages served by waiters/waitresses, and never busy. Also, Portifino was the debarkation lounge at the end of the cruise. Nice.

Happy Cruising,

TnT

I have to agree with some of the posters here. We tend to book Owners Suites (when we can afford them) for primarily the "real estate". We love the bathrooms (2 sinks & a jacuzzi tub) & especially the larger balcony (which I seem to "live" on). I very rarely use the pool reserved seats (or any other seat) as I'm not a "sunaholic"; however DH has done a few times as he is more of a "sun lover." We love the CL but sometimes don't use it if its too crowded. Most of the perks are very nice but even w/o them we'd still be booking an OS (or GS) for the reasons above.

Are suite people one of the first off the ship?

Its sounding like it'll be a great perk to have breakfast/lunch in Portofinos. Do they only open that up if its busy? or anything during mealtimes?

Another nice Perk for Suites is Free Vallet Luggage. We get the Suites for the extra space but having some of perks is a nice extra.

Hi, I have a JS booked for next month on AOS.

Just wondering if the above also refers to people in JS's?

That is, when in a JS do you get the free valet luggage service, roped off pool and theater seats and use of Potofinos for breakfast/lunch?

Also, when you talk about the free valet luggage service, are you referring to the service where you turn over your bags to RCCL staff after debarking and then you don't see it till you land at your home airport?

TIA, Karen

Only GS's and above. JS's are not considered suites.
