Platinum gifts

I am platinum on my next cruise and I am so looking forward to the free wash/fold. I do wish they have a few options for the gifts because I really have no use for a 5x7 photo frame. I print and hang pictures that are 8x10 or letter sized that I print from my printer. I'll find a use for it. I will enjoy the other perks of platinum, like being on board first and in line to book a cabana when shore tour desk opens!

Do you hear us Carnival?? I know you have people reading these boards..

After 9 thermos's I was excited for the picture frames..

After 12 frames.... it gets a little old..

As well last 2 cruises gave them away..

And oh yeah... the stationary... what do you do with that?

You use the useless stationary to write a letter to the capt to complain about the damn frames. Tell him as a perk you wanna drive the ship awhile.

I vote for drink coupons as well.....

cruising 5 - 8 times a year....3 to 4 logo items at a pop and anything they give away stacks up quickly in the closet....

I'll get my first picture frame in June of this year....but would gladly trade it in for drink coupons!!;)

In June I will be a Platinum cruiser for the first time, so I'm looking forward to the picture frame. But, I can understand that it would get old if you have so many in your family who are platinum. This will be my girls' 6th cruise. So, they still have a little ways to go.

I like the idea of giving us a choice from the Carnival gifts section or maybe a $20.00 on board credit. I could use this to almost buy a bottle of wine. I have one tote bag gave one away. Have three thermoses gave one away. Have one picture frame which I used. I do not photograph well but one actually came out good and I had a photo coupon from the Ocean Players Club.

I just received a survey from Carnival and it was all relative to platinum perks-one of the questions was about being able to pick the gift from a list of items. It appears they are concerned about our opinions and getting ready to make changes.

I liked the frame. It fits a 5x7 picture. My picture, however, was sideways so the Carnival name is cockeyed...

Petit fores (sp) and horsdouevers were very nice. As was priority embarcation and debarcation. I ended up first on the ship and I was in my car by 7:52 am on departure day.

The purser's desk knew nothing about the galley tour at all. I did the Behind the Fun tour which had it and they kept trying to sell me that instead. I gave up after speaking to 3 different people who said it was only on the BTF tour.

We've gone on the galley tour once and have been offered it on all our cruises since we've become platinum. It's in the letter you get when you first get into your room. We had to have the head of guest relations arrange it because no one else at the desk knew what we were tallking about. It us fun. We were the only ones doing it that day so it was a private tour. Thanks, Lynda

  • 2 weeks later...

Quote: "I bump up to Platinum on my next cruise, which happens to be a 12 day one - so I am really looking forward to taking full advantage of the free wash & fold service."

On the Dream last week, the letter stated that you could do this ONE TIME ONLY - no longer multiple times as in the past. You can't get that much stuff in a bag. We didn't even use it this time.

I've heard that they sometimes limit you if there are a lot of platinum cruisers on board. John mentioned that in his blog a little while back and said if you really needed more than one they wouldn't turn you away, but on some cruises they get swamped with the number of bags of free laundry that the room steward has to do when he's not making up the rooms. From what John said it isn't permanent. Still, one bag of free laundry is still free laundry....

So ... on our B2B in June, since DH and I are both Platinum, we will end up with 4 silver picture frames?! We're not exceptionally photogenic, so usually don't buy pictures on board and, since we're only bringing carry-ons we have little or no available space for take-homes. Our plans are 1) Give these frames to someone (perhaps a newbie) that we meet on board or 2)Ask the room steward to NOT leave them or 3) Just leave them in the cabin when we go.

Any other suggestions?

Find a newly married couple, anniversary couple, or first time cruiser...it would be a very nice and thoughtful gesture from you.
