Amsterdam questions

We're looking at a 14 night Alaska cruise on the A'dam and have never sailed on any of the R-class ships.

Does anyone know where the window washing equipment is parked on Decks 6 and 7?

If you have a cabin over the Hudson Room (which I think is primarily used as a card room), would you expect any kind of noise to filter up from it (day or night)?

If you have a cabin from midship-aft on Deck 7, does the Lido overhang become an issue (too much shade in cabins? gets in the way of photos?)

If you have a choice of port or starboard under the Lido clear back to the aft pool, which side would you choose for less noise (if there's a difference)?

On the Lido Deck, just aft of the mid-ship elevators on either side, does anyone know what those areas are and if they are carpeted?

Many thanks!

I'll try to help with some of your questions:

We're looking at a 14 night Alaska cruise on the A'dam and have never sailed on any of the R-class ships.

If you have a cabin over the Hudson Room (which I think is primarily used as a card room), would you expect any kind of noise to filter up from it (day or night)?

You shouldn't hear anything from the Hudson Room, but you may get some "ding! ding! ding!" from the Casino nearby.

If you have a cabin from midship-aft on Deck 7, does the Lido overhang become an issue (too much shade in cabins? gets in the way of photos?)

In Alaska the overhang could be quite welcome. Alaska gets a lot of what they call "liquid sunshine". That overhang increases the ability to stay dry while outside enjoying the views.

If you have a choice of port or starboard under the Lido clear back to the aft pool, which side would you choose for less noise (if there's a difference)?

There shouldn't be a difference as the two sides are essentially mirror images. One side is used for the late night buffet, but that doesn't create any real noise.

On the Lido Deck, just aft of the mid-ship elevators on either side, does anyone know what those areas are and if they are carpeted?!

Lido Deck from the mid-ship elevators to the aft elevators is the restaurant. It's carpeted, so that keeps it quieter than the areas under the Lido and Sea View pools.

Ah the Amsterdam. The ship I am probably the most familiar with personally. My answers will be in red below your questions

Right off hand, no. But in general on most ships it will either be the front corners or the aft corners.

Not at all.

I've had rooms directly under before and there has never been any sort of related issue.

Can't imagine too much of a difference.

The entire Lido Restaurant is carpeted. I'm not sure where you are referring to.

Many thanks!

You're welcome!
