Dining Room lunch menus-are they the same every day?

Somwhere I read a post that said that RC had changed their lunch menus to being the same offerings every day in the dining room. Is this true? I have not been able to find the offending post.

Not sure where the post is (there is one that also includes the fixed menu). But I just got off the Explorer Sunday - menu is the same, with 1 featured appetizer, entree and dessert that changes daily.

This must be new because when we were on the Voayager in February the menu was different each time we ate in the dining room. I hope this helps!

I think the change just happened in May. We didn't like it, and ate in the windjammer more often since the selection there was bigger....

I read someones review on here within the last couple of weeks and they stated the lunch menu was now the same menu all week.

We were on the Rhapsody the last week of April and the new non-changing menu was in place then. I think they said it was the first week for it (or at least on that ship).

How does the non changing menu add to the cruising experience especially on cruises longer than a few days or a week. Bottom line it does not. RCI wants you out of the dining room and all up at the buffet. We dont go to the buffet and have enjoyed lunches in the dining room. I saw the new menu and there is not much there. Hopefully people will be outraged and voice their displeasure.

Here's the lunch menu from the Radiance last week, don't know if it's the same for all RCI ships. Would guess it is unless someone just back from other ships have any other info.

Everybody wants to know about the fixed daily menu. So:
Here’s the new daily menu for the Radiance class ships.

Fried Chicken & Shrimp Combo w/blue chees dip, cocktail sauce & veggie sticks
Quesadilla Muy Grande
Soup of the Day
House Salad
Royal Caesar Salad
Traditional Cob
Traditional Reuben Sandwich
Tuna or Turkey Wrap
Classic Omelet – plain or choice of onions, avocado,tomatoes, bacon or mozzarella
Broiled Cajun Catfish
Grilled Royal Steak w/zesty herb butter & fries
Classic ¼ pounder Burger or Veggie Burger w/cheese, bacon or both
Stir Fried Chinese Vegetables
Special of the Day (a different appetizer, entrée & dessert)
Tutti Pasta – Choice of bacon, mixed herbs, roasted garlic, onion, ham, tomato or white wine sauce.
Desserts:
New York Style Cheesecake
Tropica fruit cup with Vanilla Ice Cream
Coconut Crème Brulee (Do not get or you will get at least one a day)
Chocolate Brownie Sundae
Ice Cream and Sherbet

There's also a different special of the day of an appetizer, entree and dessert.

They also have the Skyview Cafe which is almost like Johnny Rockets with burgers, salads and fish and chips. Also shakes and desserts.

And the Windjammer as always.

Judging by the menu, there is a wide variety of items to choose from. Looks good to me.

Wow, once again, RCI out did itself. They improved the cruise experience. Im sure now that the menu is posted, people will book just to get to order off this menu every day. Makes you want to book a cruise longer than 7 days. Job well done, RCI

We were on the ROS during the second week of the new lunch and dinner menu. Usually we eat in the
dining room for lunch and dinner to meet people and enjoy the company. The new lunch menu, with
few exceptions was AWFUL. From Tues on we ate
in the Windjammer, which was really quite good.
Our large table in the evening, some of us being "foodies" enjoyed the dinner meals every
night. The contrast was amazing.

RCI succeeded, they drove you out of the dining room. Thats their goal. Soon when no one goes because of this new menu, they have the excuse to close it down for lunch.

I am a happy person, just dont like the changes. I know I have posted a few negative comments, only 41 more days before we leave, then I wont be here, as the voice against surcharge and negative changes. I will try to post more postiive posts. OK

Next cruise July 15th, Jewel, figured the jr and lunch menu to stay, just booked Sept 12, Golden out of San Juan.

I think the menu looks good, but only for two or three days. Then I guess it will be the buffet for lunch (I really don't like buffets). I probably will live though.

Here's my question. It seems that many other cruiselines are enhancing their services. Holland America has added some amenities, Celebrity (which Royal owns as you all know) has enhanced their servcies (CC class), Princess has come out with new things, ie movies under the stars, where I'm sure they had a choice of whether to charge or not. It looks like Royal Caribbean is in the mode of lessening their service/amenities. Just a little bit. If anyone complains, then it really seems petty to gripe about turn down service or something like the same menu, it seems like it's death by a thousand cuts.

Excellent comments. Sooooo true. The death by a thousand cuts is slow and painful. RCI seems to have this core followers, RCI can do no wrong. As long as RCI charges more, and offers less, they are lined up ready to go. What it would take for some of these people to be bothered is beyond me.

I don't like this but, in reality, we don't eat lunch in the dining room all that much. On port days, it's often to much trouble to go back to the ship to eat so we eat in port.

While it won't make me quit sailing with RCI, it will get me to consider other lines. I like a little variety but I don't like barffets.

No one likes change. IMO, RCI is making to many changes to fast.

You truly hit it on the head as far as our dinner table was concerned. We felt driven out of the dining room for lunch
I will say again, the Windjammer was good at lunch

Everyone is complaining that RCI is offering less and less. I started cruising with them back in the early '80's. At that time there was no Windjammer, no Johnny Rockets, no Seaview Cafe, no Promenade Cafe. Lunch was in the dining room only and on port days there was only a buffet, nothing else available, in the dining room. and for this I paid twice for my cruise than I pay now.

Now that we have been given so many more choices, people think that we are getting less if there is a set menu. The one day I ate in the dining room for lunch the place was virtually empty. I can certainly understand why they have gone to the set menu and can't blame them at all.

I will be coming back to Royal Caribbean after not sailing them for almost three years. Our last two cruises have been 10 dayers on Celebrity and Princess where the dining room menu changed every day and where we also could request and get a table for two at lunch and breakfast.
Their dining rooms were moderately full at all times, so what are they doing right?

I'm already thinking ahead for our next cruise after Mariner and while I am considering the Brilliance transatlantic, the thought of the same menu every day in the dining room (which we do enjoy at lunch) is giving me pause.

I dont know about your cruise and how crowded it was in the dining room for lunch, you say empty every cruise I have been on, the dining room for lunch is crowded. On the diamond Princess a couple weeks ago, they had to close the dining room for a while because no empty seats. I know a lot of people are up top fighting for a hot dog or burger, I dont see it, but if thats what they want while on vacation, more power to them. We dont like buffets and really enjoy the dining room even to the point of giving up our coveted seats by the pool. It gave us pause and we just booked the Golden for September.
The limited menu might be ok for a short 3 or 4 day cruise.

Interesting. I wondered what it was like before since I've only been cruising for two years.
