Curacao on a Sunday

If you dock down town, the floating bridge must open to allow the ship to go through and docks directly across from the Punda.

If you are docked at the Mega Pier, you do not go into the bay or require the floating bridge to open.

I have no idea where this "mall" is. It cannot be on the Punda side.

There are some newer shopping areas around the Mega Pier that someone might consider a mall.

Well, KK........

Once again, your experience has been different than ours. :) Happens a lot it seems.

We were in Curacao twice last year and we did not dock at the Mega Pier.

It's a quick, short walk to the bridge where we dock.

I'd actually like to dock there once just to see it. :D

Sky is bright blue today over our house. Hope it's blue where you are, as well.

And the grass is green. How about yours?

No blue skies here -- had them yesterday -- rains are moving in.

Got the lawn fertilized last week -- it is nice and green. But some sections will have to resodded once all the damaged bushes are replaced -- hopefully by the end of April.

The Mega pier - is by the new Renaissance Hotel and Mall -- I listed the upscale shops that are there. It is a short walk from the pontoon bridge.

Thank you TMWeedle....... very helpful. Now I 'get' it. I couldn't picture where they were talking about.

We'll be there in about a month and am looking forward to it. Curacao keeps getting better and better IMO

Wonderful port.

Used to be a wonderful handbag store that carried Fendi handbags as well as other nice brands. They closed and I miss that shop. Maybe I'll find it in this new shopping area. That would be a nice surprise.

Floating bridge, Punda on left, Otrabunda on right. Nose of Ventura can be seen at megapier. Straight beyond the booths of the 'straw market' is the entrance to the shopping area:

Shops extend outside the smaller area to the large white building to the right:

Have you asked this question on the Ports of Call board, Curacao? There is one person who posts there and on the Carnival board, Caribbeanboy, who lived in Willemstadt. I'm sure you could get a good answer from him. EM

It has been years since any HAL ship we have been on has docked anywhere but the Mega Pier.

The Eurodam docked at the small cruise pier in February and the Grand Princes (IIRC) was at the Mega pier.

Essiesmom: were you on the cruise with us? :)

Westerdam November 15, 2009 cruise we docked at small dock.

Same on Maasdam.

We have never docked at Mega Pier.

Essiesmom......... THANK YOU so much for those wonderful photos.

VERY helpful. Now I can exactly image about where you all are speaking.

We'll have fun in Curacao on our upcoming Maasdam cruise with new places to investigate.

Again, thank you.
