Laundry Question

Recommended Posts

It was $1.50 to wash $1.50 to dry. (Unused tokens can be returned for credit)

You must use their detergent as it is ocean friendly.

Iron and board are minimal but serviceable.

Bring dryer sheets as none are provided.

Don't forget there is a clothes line in the shower if you just want to rinse out a couple of things and avoid the laundry room. (Bring detergent if you are going to do laundry in the sink.) Many places sell Tide in single use packets that are handy. We also carry a small plastic jar with Oxiclean to use instead of bleach.

We also found the blow-up hangars very useful as things dried much faster when the layers are separated.

I'm quoting Hondorner here, as we never asked about the laundry rooms:

All of the launderettes are in the center section of the ship, similar to the inside staterooms. There is no indication of whether the entrance will be to Port or Starboard, or both.

On Deck 11, which is primarily the PH1 and PH2, the launderette is all the way forward, between 11000 and 11001.

On Deck 10, in the forward half which is primarily PH3, the launderette is between 10020 and 10023.

On Deck 9, the launderette is just aft of the Concierge Lounge, between 9028 and 9041.

On Deck 8, the launderette is between 8036 and 8039.

On Deck 7, the launderette is between 7022 and 7025.

Lyn-

This sounds very much like the token cost is being increased to $2.00 as the ships are being refurbished.

Jim

Could be

so I know it is between $1.50 & $3. :D

I will find out in July

Just off Nautica last week. Tokens are $2.00 each. We ended up sending laundry out or did it in the bathroom sink....not worth the consternation or grief one receives in the laundry room.

If you look at the deck plans in the brochure for Marina they show the laundry rooms on each deck.

We were on Insignia in November and the tokens were $1.50 so the increase must be recent.

So as not to confuse people, the first Marina brochures had deck plans which did not include the self service laundry rooms.

Oceania quickly asserted that there would be self service laundries "on every residential deck", and later brochures were updated to show where they are located, but in point of fact, the deck plans on the Oceania web site still do not show the laundry rooms.

When those plans are amended, lets hope that they also include:

  • the rest room(s?) on deck 16
  • some means of egress to the fitness track on deck 15
  • the location of the "bar" in the Grand Bar.

I know, I know, I'm obsessed .

I don't think you are obsessed.

I've asked those same three questions (restrooms, fitness track access, & bar), but thought you had a much better chance of getting an answer.

And yes, they have added the locations of Marina's laundromats to the latest brochure, but oddly still do not show it for the "three babies".

OK let's confuse it more!!

I doubt there will be restrooms on deck 16 as they are not on deck 11 of the R ships.

However they did correct one glaring problem on the R ships, no restroom on the Horizons deck, outside Horizons. From Horizons you always had to go down to deck 9.

As to the fitness track. It's fitness track, you have to climb ropes to get up there!!

I think I see the bar in the Grand Bar. If you accept the fact that the Grand Bar is on both sides of the ship, then the bar is on the left when facing forward. It is inside from the first large lifeboat.

I think they made both the Grand Bar and Martinis larger and completely across the ship due to larger passenger load and the crowding in those areas during happy hour. (not that we would know from experience!)

Now my question about Marina is that in the Veranda and lower cabins I do not see a reading light near the sofa. We found that an inconvenience on the R ships as if one wanted to nap the only way the other could sit on the sofa and read was to have all the overhead lights on. I have been told by Oceania that there will be a reading lamp so lets hope so.

I believe that you are wrong there, mostly because the Cabanas were additions to the R ships, whereas they are part of the original design on Marina.

True enough, although you could also have crossed the pool area and used the restrooms in the foyer between the Specialty restaurants and the Library.

I believe that those are slot machines you are seeing on the port side.

The Grand Bar appears to be strictly on the starboard side of the ship.

I recall hearing that the bar in the Grand Bar was being veneered with a rare material which was being back-lit to great effect, and that the cage which could be lowered when the bar was closed would be very decorative, but I just cannot picture where they will place it.

That corridor area between the Casino and the Bar would make sense, however, because as on the R ships the Grand Bar will be acting as the service bar for the Dining Room.

Notice the flexible bottom of the bedside lamp.

I hope they do put a rest room on deck 16. I stand corrected as you are right the cabanas were an addition although the deck was a sun deck before their addition and open to passengers.

I am sure the U shaped thing with what looks like bar stools on two sides is the bar. It is certainly shaped like a bar with work space behind and look similar to the bar in Martinis. You have to go throught a corridor from there to get to the casino. It is also surrounded by what appear to be cocktail tables and possibly a piano with bar stools around it.

(I had to use a magnifying glass to see the details.)

I see the goose neck lamp but I am also being told there will be a wall lamp at the other end of the sofa.

Time and patience will tell.

I am sending my laundry out or hand washing next time. Spent way too much time fussing with a dryer that after 66 minutes did not dry, then another dryer broke and I won't even go near the fellow passenger experience:cool: What ever happened to decorum:rolleyes:

I guess I have an older brochure, because there are no laundry rooms shown.

Deck 15 definitely needs rest rooms. An elevator would be very nice, too!

If you'd like to see the deck plans in a much larger format, check out this free site: www.cruisedeckplans.com

When I look at Deck 6 there, it appears to me that the "piano with stools around it" is the Roulette wheel, and therefore a part of the Casino.

You may be correct about that U shaped area, however, as the Oceania web site references a Casino Bar in addition to the Grand Bar.

Out of the four public rooms on Deck 6, three of them are bars! It makes bar hopping like shooting fish in a barrel :p

I believe that you a referring to deck 16 (where the Cabanas Are).

Deck 15 (forward) IS already serviced by four elevators and has two restrooms (just outside Horizons).

Then again, perhaps you are protesting the lack of a deck 13???

I think we saw the "laundry lady" on our cruise also. She was there every day. She told me her husband changes clothes 4 times a day and will not wear the same thing twice. It was all I could do to refrain from making an appropriate remark but she seemed happy to be there while he enjoyed himself elsewhere.

I know where I'd be putting that iron if I were her!

I hope this doesn't upset anyone, but since this thread is already a 'little' off topic anyway and I did do a search and could not find out anything, I'm going to ask a question here because it looks like this thread has a lot of knowledgeable people about the Marina. Are there still two smoking areas on the Marina like on the other ships? More importantly, is there still an inside smoking area? Please tell me it is smoke free, at least inside..........

Thanks!:)

We were both hoping they would allow it only outside.:(

They are both small areas & avoidable on the current ships so I would think it may be the same on the Marina

Time will tell

Sorry it is deck 10 not 15 for Horizons
