cheggy Posted April 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2010 Do they have a happy hour where drinks are buy one get one free? Holland America had them thru our christmas cruise everyday. :)
KandJCruising Posted April 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2010 The only time I recall seeing a 2-4-1 deal on my last cruise was in the Star Bar most evenings (8-10, I think) for martinis. Though I haven't experienced it, you may also receive a 2-4-1 deal offered while you wait for seating in the dining rooms. I've never had to wait for more than a few minutes, so this has never been an issue.
NYcruzzer Posted April 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2010 When I was on the Gem in Feb. we had 2 for 1 drinks in Maltings while we waiting to be seated in the MDR..Just had to show our pager.
STARFISH*4 Posted April 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2010 on the STAR in December to the Panama Canal...they werent selling alot of booze, so they were running several BUY one Beer get one FREE with the plastic BUD buckets...couldnt pass up those deals...hubby got 3 buckets during the 2 weeks! on the Jewel in January the best they could do was buy 5 get ONE FREE with those flimsy helmet buckets. bethaniesmom Posted April 19, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2010 on the Ryndam in August we had happy hour at two different bars for like an hour and a half before dinner. it was great! you could wait for the waitress or go up to the bar, they had plates of snacks too, and they came around frequently and asked if you wanted to order more! Wingtips56 Posted April 19, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2010 I was never aware of a 2 for 1 on beverages ... I'll have to ask next time!! They did have the drink of the day at a discount and in a tacky plastic cup you could keep. Wierd drinks, though. But a year ago on the Norwegian Jade, most of the specialty restaurants offered a 2 for 1 on the restaurant upcharge on the evenings of sea days (not port days) for early dining ... before 7pm I think. These were advertized in the daily newsletter on the affected days. Make reservations! I hope they do that on all ships and will still be doing it next year. It made having to pay an upcharge more agreeable.
mypleasure Posted April 20, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2010 On the Pearl in Feb/March 2 for 1 martinis most nights 6PM-7PM Also there was a 2 for 1 at the Star Bar which we discovered when waiting for Cagney's one night. They were all stated in the Freestyle Daily but you had to look carefully ( I read every word of mine) to find them.
newmexicoNita Posted April 20, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Do they have a happy hour where drinks are buy one get one free? Holland America had them thru our christmas cruise everyday. :) this depends on the ship and sailing. I have seen them offered on some sailings. The samw with things like free drinks for ladies in the casino after a certain time or whatever. Each cruise is different. Nita

FanofFlorida Posted April 20, 2010 #11 Share Posted April 20, 2010 We also scored on the Star with 2/1 beers- it was our first day at sea mid-afternoon. DH couldnt believe when he signed a slip for the bucket- it was like, $17 WITH tip :D we ordered a second bucket and just put the beer in the fridge to drink the rest of the evening. So, I asked the bartender later that week if they were having the discount again because it wasnt advertised- he explained that it is up to the bar manager on a day to day basis- if sales were slow, they would announce the special. flashdog_1 Posted April 20, 2010 #12 Share Posted April 20, 2010 I've enjoyed the B1G1 on every X and my 1 HAL but never on NCL. Sure is a sweet deal. Wish they'd had them on my NCL sailings. Just didn't get lucky, I guess. The drink of the day is not necessarily a special low price, it's just what they're hawking in a souvenir glass, so ask for it in a plain glass unless you want the souvenir. cheggy Posted April 21, 2010 Author #14 Share Posted April 21, 2010 Thank everybody for the input. We are booked for Sept. cruise on the Jewel. Our 1st with NCL. I will look for those deals! :D
Wingtips56 Posted April 21, 2010 #15 Share Posted April 21, 2010 OK, here's the strategy. The Freestyle Daily comes out the night before, so before bed, lock yourself in the bathroom with it and touch every line. Ignore the omnipresent jewelry adds. In a box with the restaurant hours is where you'd find the 2for1 specialty restaurant offers...on our last pair of cruises, they applied for the sea-day nights only, not port days. Early dining. The bar discounts should appear with the list of bars and their hours, although there were sometime separate adds. The dinner deals were pretty discreet. Enjoy!!! Rare CruisinCrow Posted April 21, 2010 #16 Share Posted April 21, 2010 Sky had 2-for-1 mojitos in the Atrium bar and 2-for-1 martinis in the Plantation Club. Can't remember the hours - maybe 6:30 to 8:30? They also had the helmets of beer. You had to pay a $5 deposit for the helmet, which you got back when you returned it. Keep the deposit receipt so they know what account to credit. Helmet O' Beer:

BUT the Star had just begun testing the Ticket to Dine program on our sailing. However, the cruise right before ours had NEITHER the 2/1 OR the Ticket to Dine - no deals at all!
