Magic has more rooms, less space than Dream. Wake up Carnival BEARDS!

Cheerleaders will weigh in shortly in defense.

Dave85,

If you hold your breath waiting, you will perish because I am the Carnival Cheerleader Captain. :D

One thing we enjoyed most about Dream was the coed thermal suite rooms along with the view from those rooms. I can't imagine the experience will be anything but hot and smothering in an interior room. Dream's thermal suite is a true step up from Conquest Class' segregated by sex steam rooms, but even those have an ocean view.

I can understand downsizing the gym if you observed the treadmills on sea days and assumed that there was just too many left unused, but the ones not in use were due to noise issues for the cabins below and not because there wasn't people waiting to use them.

Unlike many of my fellow cheerleaders, I am not a fan of Spirit Class ships. I like larger ships, but I don't want to see Carnival recognize problems and then take actions that make the problems worse. As a shareholder, I do want to see steps taken to maximize profits, but not at the expense of reputation and value.

When we were on Dream and docked in Roatan earlier this month I noticed a sleek looking boat taking off from a nearby smaller pier and I thought it looked like a nice boat;

When I looked closer I realized the passengers were packed in like sardines;

What looked like a sleek vessel was actually a ferry of some sort carrying passengers a short distance (I hope). If amenities and public spaces are removed from larger ships, they will then be SuperSized sardine packed ferries as well. I do not wish to own stock in Carnival Ferry Line. I'm sure it will be profitable, but not something I'd use and I only buy stock in companies I know.

Thats sad...i guess i will have to keep sailing the older ships.....Spirit class has so much room its not funny......I will try to stick with spirit class but if you notice they jacked up the price of the cruise a bit on the spirit class. I love the Miracle and wish they would put her back in Florida so it has good itinerarys again...hate going to Bahamas.

The Miracle does cruise out of Florida from October to April. Then goes up to New York from April to October.

I just looked at the passenger space ratio on the Oasis expecting it to be quite a big roomier than either the Conquest Class or the Dream Class...

Oasis.jpg

Turns out to be the same as the Fantasy Class...

To be fair, Oasis has quite a bit more outdoor space than any other ship and that outdoor space is not included in the gross registered tonnage.

I thought I heard somewhere that there were more decks on the Magic??? Maybe not...

I don't know... it seems like there is a piece of the puzzle missing, especially since there hasn't been much released about the ship. I'll wait for more information before I decide to write off the Magic or not.

Same number of decks as the Dream.

Definitely looks like Magic has a smaller Serenity deck -- and looks like they relocated the steakhouse --

Actually, I don't SEE the steakhouse anywhere --

I don't think these plans are accurate ---

The Steakhouse is on Deck 5 aft.

In the order of the ships i have been on so far Mach for room and layout its by best first 1) Miracle 2) Fantasy 3)Liberty 4)Valor

The Spirit Class have quite a bit of room... the passenger space ratio is 41 to 1...

I know that the Fantasy Class has the lowest passenger space ratio but you really can't tell it. Perhaps it's the layout of the ship.

:)

It might be the layout. When I was on the Elation it didn't feel crowded at all.

The Lido deck restaurant on the Fantasy class ships is bigger than the one on the Spirit class ships.

Fantasy Class: 772

Spirit Class: 460

I wonder why the decreased the seating so much when there are about 200 more people on the Spirit class ships.

Same with some other areas on the ship:

Main Lounge: Fantasy: 1300 - Spirit: 1167

Casino: Fantasy: 450 - Spirit: 278

I totally agree. Now, I have limited experience with my only recollections of Lido buffet areas being from 2 ships - Elation and Valor, but the Elation was much easier to navigate the area and find seats. We just didn't bother on the Valor unless we were there just as it opened. We were on the Elation in July when it was very busy but on the Valor in late October when there were fewer passengers. After our first port day when we weren't able to get a dang danish off the buffet we ordered room service for breakfast. There was no way to get breakfast just before going into port, unless you gave yourself an hour or so. If I have that much time, I'll be in the MDR.

Of course we are going back on a Conquest class ship this summer when all the kids will be there  so we won't even bother with the buffet except at embarkation lunch and maybe a sea day (gotta get those fish n' chips).

We never ever felt crowded on the Elation at all.

Space ratio is a fooler. It would seem that a ship with a space ratio of 44 would be much roomier than one with a space ratio of 28. And, in a way it is, but how important is that space? A space ratio of 44 means that there is 4400 CUBIC FEET for each passenger compared to 2800 cubic feet per passenger. 1600 more cubic feet per passenger, that seems important. But since about 95% of all humans would take up about 24 cubic feet each. There is plenty of space with either number.

Layout plays a big part........everyone bitches about how small Princess cabins are........but I love the layout which makes them seem so much roomier.....

Depends how big the humans are dan.

4 ft. wide X 4 ft. thick X 7 ft tall still only equals 112 cf. And most of us can still fit in a space that large, or small, depending on one's outlook. That's today! In a few years, maybe not.:rolleyes::p
