dos equis Posted April 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2010 Forgive me if this was already posted; I did a search and didn't see any results talking about this and I thought you guys might like to know. In the new Latitudes magazine they showcased new Latitudes Member benefits. One of them is that you'll get OBC once you graduate to a new tier in the program. It apparently began in January. I can't find out how much OBC is offered, but it sounds like a nice new perk! Here are the details from NCL's site: On-Board Credit Offers are for new bookings only. Beginning January 24, 2010, based upon your membership level in the Latitudes Program, you will receive one of our post-cruise Thank-You Notes with corresponding on-board credit when you graduate a Latitudes tier. The coupon is valid for 6 (six) months after completion of the cruise and can not be extended. Only 1 (one) onboard credit Latitude coupon can be redeemed per reservation. To take advantage of this offer and ensure receipt of Latitudes benefits on board, please provide Latitudes membership number at time of booking. Offer applies to Latitude members only upon qualifying for next highest tier (Bronze achieved after 1st completed cruise; Silver after 5th completed cruise; Gold after 9th completed cruise; Platinum after 14th completed cruise). Onboard credit offer in U.S. Dollars, per stateroom, based on cruise length and Latitudes program tiers. Onboard Credit may be spent for ANY onboard purchases. Onboard credit must be used or the remaining balance will be forfeited. Offer may be used by individuals, participants in qualified group bookings, by single guests and for use with third and fourth guest bookings. Singles paying 200% are entitled to full onboard credit value, except for Category TS/T1. Singles in Category TS/T1 receive 50% of full onboard credit value per stateroom. Onboard service charges are additional and will be automatically added to guest onboard account. Offer does not have monetary value and is non- transferable. 1-2 Day sailings are excluded. Offer excludes NCL Reduced Rate programs (e.g. casino, employee rates, interline, friends /family rates, vendor rates, or cruises taken via cruise credit certificate) and charters. Combinability with other offers is subject to change or cancellation at any time per NCL discretion. Cancellation fees will follow NCL schedule listed in the brochure and on website. NCL strongly recommends the purchase of Travel Protection on all bookings. Other restrictions may apply. In case of cancellation, onboard credit will be added back to the guest account. marelind Posted April 28, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2010 Well, thank you so much for starting this thread. Because of your post I checked our status, having just completed a cruise. Indeed, we had just moved up to silver! So I thought I would check in with our PCC. She said that we did get an OBC that she could apply to the cruise we booked just prior to this last cruise. The OBC is dependent on what category you book for your next cruise: an inside cabin gets $25, a balcony (I think she said) gets $100, and since we booked a Courtyard Villa we got $150. :D So thanks, once again to the CC network! dos equis Posted April 29, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted April 29, 2010 No problem. I'm wondering how it all works though. I'm going to call my TA to find out. I've taken 1 NCL cruise (last May) and I'm booked on my next one in September of this year (EPIC, BABY!). I'm wondering if completing my first cruise upgraded me to Gold, or if I became a Latitutes member (and therefore was a Gold member) by just booking the cruise. If it's the former, I think I should get OBC on my next cruise... but if it's the latter then I probably missed the deal. If I find anything else out I will post to update. SnootieTootie Posted April 29, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 29, 2010 Hey Dos, here is how it works Currently, you are bronze (if you have taken 1 NCL cruise) After 5th completed cruise, you become Silver After 9th completed cruise, you become Gold After 14th completed cruise you become Platinum We are going on the Epic in September also, Sep 11 to be exact...can't wait! dos equis Posted April 29, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted April 29, 2010 haha, I totally picked "gold" out of thin air thinking it was the first tier... thanks for not calling me a complete idiot. It was a toss up between Sept 11th and Sept 25th for me... but we ended up going with the 25th because the taxes were less and the dates didn't totally matter for us. HOW EXCITED ARE YOU?? Probably just as excited as you!! Fortunately, we are leaving this Sunday on the NCL Dawn. That will give us a cruise "fix" until our September sailing on the Epic. Budget Queen Posted April 29, 2010 #9 Share Posted April 29, 2010 If I am reading this right, it penalizes us Platinum's?? I have no where else to go and have been Platinum for several years, with at least 25+++++ NCL cruises. :) I do use the cruise rewards prepaid deposit, so not entitled anyway. It's not the best program in my opinion??

peg013 Posted April 29, 2010 #11 Share Posted April 29, 2010 Guess I won't ever get to get the OBC either. We use FCC's too. Sucks that they make you forfeit the OBC because you purchased and used a FCC from THEM!

Sucks that they make you forfeit the OBC because you purchased and used a FCC from THEM! I'm a little confused at your comment because we booked our next cruise and used our Future Cruise Credit as a portion of our deposit (because we booked a suite they only use it for a portion of the $1500 deposit). We received a $300 OBC as the promotion when we booked. Then we also got the $150 for the Latitudes tier graduation. This was all accomplished through our PCC. Ronin23 Posted April 30, 2010 #13 Share Posted April 30, 2010 Can some one tell me how this might work if we have two cruises booked but with only 1 week gap between them? After the first cruise I will graduate to Silver so wonder how the OBC will be applied seeing there is only 1 week between cruises... Both cruises were booked in February. We are on the Jewel 5th June and then the Gem 19th June.

I am a customer who has sailed with them, way more than the climbers up the tiers, but out of the reward system with this program. So, in my book, it is a big "penality". You should probably get an automatic OBC for loyalty. :D I don't like the idea that my 59 days on NCL only earns me bronze status either but NCL doesn't seem to care much about loyalty.
marelind Posted May 1, 2010 #18 Share Posted May 1, 2010 peg013, all I am saying is that they let me use the tier graduation even after I used the FCC. My suggestion is that it never hurts to run it by your TA or PCC. They may do it for you.

Perhaps I'm wrong but I always understood that to pertain to credits issued to correct a service issue or booking issue. In that way it would be a "replacement" booking as opposed to a "new" booking which would be entitled to the reward obc. For example a cruise booked with credits issued because of a previously flooded cabin would not qualify as that would be a replacement cruise, while future cruise credits which are purchased for a "new" cruise would be entitled to the obc. That's my reading and may be totally wrong .. wouldn't be the first
FB Cruiser Posted May 1, 2010 #20 Share Posted May 1, 2010 We sailed in March. I had moved up to Gold after a cruise in November. We received a $250 OBC during the March cruise. I wasn't expecting it, but it was on the statement.
