I am thinking of staying in the Las Olas area of Fort Lauderdale precruise. Has anyone stayed at the Riverside or any other interesting places in this area?

Yes, Yes and Yes!!! Location, location, location...........lots of shops eateries and popualr night life.

 

I'm staying there again in less then 2 weeks. Easy to get on Hotwire or Priceline.

I agree. Las Olas is fabulous. You will have a great time, it's a wonderful area.

About $25 including tip should cover it. This is the only hotel in the middle of the Las Olas district. There is the Hampton Inn a few blocks away but I wouldn't recommend walking to/from it after dark, and there is a small lodge, the Kira-Mar, just east of the area (safe to walk there) but a bit of a walk.

Re. taxi cost from airport to port of Miami:

 

I checked it out on another thread and noticed that the price ranged between $18-$20 PLUS TIP...depending on how difficult it is for the driver to arrive at the drop off area.

 

Some said they were backed-up in a line at the port waiting for those in front to move on...all the while the meter 's running.
