Any free drink opportunities on NCL?

It occurred to me that I haven't seen any mention on this board of any opportunities onboard to score free drinks. On other cruise lines there are captain's cocktail parties (some are being phased out) and past guest parties, where waiters offer watered-down drinks or wine or champagne... does NCL have these as well?

NCL offers a latitudes part for past guests. They have also had a second party for those at the higher level of latitude.

For those that spend enough in the casino, there are free drinks.

Sometimes, the art group will invite certain guests for a cocktail reception with hopes you will buy some paintings (fat chance here)

There's usually at least one night (or afternoon) in the casino when they offer free fruit punch (with a slight amount of alcohol) at the bar in order to attract people into the casino.

There's also the same opportunity for free drinks as pretty much everywhere else in the world... low cut tops with push up bras...:p

I tried that once....it didn't work for me!!!:D

I went home thirsty, and humiiated.

I cried for a week.

My DD phoned up to do a cruise director's challenge from our cabin when we were watching it while eating lunch in our room.

Cruise director asked to talk to Dad and asked him if he was up for a challenge. He said yes, so she challenged DD to get her Dad dressed up as a lady in 7 minutes.

We completed the challenge, he got a T shirt and a FREE bottle of sparkling wine, DD got an NCL beach ball. In the end the wine was given to the Kids Club counsellors at the end of the week as DH doesn't drink wine, and if it's not Veuve Cliquot I don't drink sparkling wine, darlink, lol!

Apart from that there was no free drink on board. The Art Auctions and LAtitudes members parties have free drinks, but I think the Art Auctions may end up costing you more if you have too many.

BTW, a family we got to know onboard had brought a box of wine aboard and hadn't been stopped, I was amazed as had been led to believe NCL X ray everything!

I loved the 2 for 1 drink specials., epsecially when they did Mojitos. Yum, yum, yum. We also participated in the tastings outside of the duty-free store. That was alot of fun, we had a great and jovial crowd.

We did too.

We got 2-for-1 drinks every day when they did the late afternoon bingo. One could always just sit in the back, order double drinks before the festivities begin, and then go elsewhere.

NCl has phased out the captains party. Like you said, many lines are doing this. NCL does have the frequent guest parties and yes, you mainly see wine or champagne, but you can ask for something else. They do have several 1/2 off or 2fers in one or another bar. Maybe not everynight but certainly some nights.

Only caveat is it works for hot chicks, not the fat ugly ones. :D

"the fat ugly ones" often describes the guys buying the drinks for the hot young chicks in push up bras who wouldn't give them the time of day without that aspect.

They are not free but the martini/margarita/muddling "classes" are a good vallue! For $15 you get five small cocktails - we had a great time on Sun one afternoon - the Win, Loose, or Draw game was held beteen martinis and margaritas and then we stayed on for Trivia - it was very loud:eek:
