SnowWhiteNYC Posted September 6, 2010 Author #28 Share Posted September 6, 2010 Thanks for your kind comments! The maitre-d in the Crimson Lower was ???? cannot honestly remember... He was nice but not a major influence on our experience...obviously. He did visit our table once to ask my husband how he managed to be the only male with 6 females.... We loved the cabin and it was quiet, we didn't notice noise from below...just the lack of privacy. I like to go out on the balcony in the morning early when everyone else is sleeping to enjoy my morning diet pepsi...every morning there were workers cleaning the deck and hottubs below. The rest of the day...even well into the nite...there was always an assortment of people on the promenade. I personally wouldn't take a balcony room on deck 6 again. I am not so sure I would take one above it either.... If we sailed the Dream again I would look to book a Cove Balcony...the rest of the party with us loved theirs! SnowWhiteNYC Posted September 6, 2010 Author #29 Share Posted September 6, 2010 @loonyhiker! small world! The CD was Butch and he, imho, was the best CD I've experienced in 16 CCL cruises! His disco dance class was awesome!
Senoj84 Posted September 6, 2010 #30 Share Posted September 6, 2010 Thanks for answering my question about the burrito bar! About the bbq place, what's the menu consist of? Is it the typical bbq like bbq chicken or ribs? Thanks again!
SnowWhiteNYC Posted September 6, 2010 Author #31 Share Posted September 6, 2010 The Lanai bbq was outside on Deck 5 promenade near the Ocean Plaza. There were ribs (my DH says great!), chicken quesadillas, pork quesadillas, hot dogs, sliders... There were no free beverages available, but they did have a bar set up for purchases. It was only open on sea days and was crowded. I preferred the Lido deck options....

Rare jimbo5544 Posted September 7, 2010 #33 Share Posted September 7, 2010 Did you try the burrito bar? Let me know what you thought of it. Thanks We were on the Dream 8/21. We loved the Burrito bar. They had chicken, beef and shrimp and all of the fixins. Not comparable to an authentic Mexican rest. but very good.
Hollyday Posted September 7, 2010 #34 Share Posted September 7, 2010 I personally wouldn't take a balcony room on deck 6 again. I am not so sure I would take one above it either.... If we sailed the Dream again I would look to book a Cove Balcony...the rest of the party with us loved theirs! We're booked for the holiday cruise on the Dream and have a balcony starboard side, deck 7. Will we have the same lack of privacy as you did on deck 6? Thanks for your review. rbabiak Posted September 7, 2010 #35 Share Posted September 7, 2010 I also just got back off the Dream. It really was a great trip. Everything was great except for the kids. There were 1400 passengers less than 18 and about 1200 of them were completely out of control. They ran up and down halls banging on doors, ran amock on the open decks and public areas, were escorted out of the adult comedy shows, and were completely rude to adults. Carnival did remove them from the Serenity deck. Parents seem to be non-existant. It's certainly isn't Carnivals fault but something really needs to be done. Other than this it was a great vacation. That sucks and I am sorry to hear that. We did encounter some rowdy kids in the pool but other then that not too bad. We took a 14yr, 7 yr old and 3 yr old but they were with us the whole time. The maitre-d in the Crimson Lower was ???? cannot honestly remember - Did you dine at 6pm on the Dream on 8/21 - 8/28? If so his name was Draggo from Slovania and he was SUPER nice. Knew me and my wife's name the very 1st time we stepped foot into the Crimson Dining room. It might be because we were invited on this cruise by Carnival. rbabiak Posted September 7, 2010 #37 Share Posted September 7, 2010 We're booked for the holiday cruise on the Dream and have a balcony starboard side, deck 7. Will we have the same lack of privacy as you did on deck 6? Thanks for your review. Not sure. We had room 9215 and our balcony was pretty private. As private as you are going to get on a huge cruise ship.

jrmende63 Posted September 7, 2010 #39 Share Posted September 7, 2010 @ snowhite: do you know what days or times the tea/ pastries were? And I have to tell you I love your name snowwhiteL :) and evidently so does a baby's mom that was born at my hospital. The Mom was Ariel , the baby Snow White and the Grandma is Cinderella. And no I am not kidding!! @Rbabiak: I wonder if he is the same Draggo as was on the Triumph last year:confused: If so super nice guy in the Dining room, but not friendly at all when he got off the ship and walked by us. We said hello and Thank You for our service in the dining room. He grunted at us and walked on by:rolleyes:
Cina409 Posted September 7, 2010 #40 Share Posted September 7, 2010 We also went on the Aug. 28th Dream. I didn't mind the change from east to west. I enjoyed my trip except the water issue. I was on deck 10 and had NO water for almost 2 days. I DO NOT drink and was very upset Carnival did nothing for non-drinkers. If one more person would tell me to stand in that ZOO of a line to get a free soda I'm going to scream:mad:....I had a unlimited soda card. My children are not allowed to drink soda and 2 days of no water or ice cold showers in my mothers cabin sucked. If my mom and dad was not on the ship a I guess we would have been out of luck for a showers. I feel they should have given a free photo or even drink tickets to be used at anytime...that was a hot mess. I did find it funny to sit and watch all those people try to get drunk in one hour.:D:eek: Some of them did a great job too.

saphir Posted September 7, 2010 #43 Share Posted September 7, 2010 HI, I will be on the Dream next January 15. I have a balcony cabin 8303 (deck 8). Do you think that I will be inconvenienced by the deck 5. Thank you.

This is why we NEVER cruise when school is out. Plus it is less expensive.
SnowWhiteNYC Posted September 7, 2010 Author #45 Share Posted September 7, 2010 I think that the balconies on decks 7 and 8 might offer a bit more privacy, but you will still look down on a promenade and not the water. I wouldn't go deck 9 because of Lido being deck 10. We sailed the Glory and loved her, loved the Dream. If you haven't done either I would go with whichever has the best price. The drive wasn't awful. We did it in under 19 hours door to door and drove straight from NY to Cocoa Beach. If anyone wants the capers, email me at sesnd86@aol.com. I'll figure out how to get them to you. I will try to post pix.

Hogladyrider Posted September 8, 2010 #50 Share Posted September 8, 2010 We rented a mini-van for 85 dollars...unlimited mileage...drove around the whole island...wound up having to put about $10 worth of gas in....Have lunch at Coconuts...LOVED IT! Isn't Coconuts AMAZING! The views are spectacular. We also rented a car and drove all around the island but I think next time we would just negotiate a cab for the day, cheaper and safer, meaning we are not fond of drinking and driving and we REALLY enjoyed those drinks at Coconuts. We saw the police out everywhere when we were driving and the LAST thing we were interested in was getting stopped in Mexico by the police after having had a few beverages!
