Smoking???

Each cruise line has their own smoking policies which always seem to be changing (getting tougher for smokers). On Princess ships you can smoke in your cabin and on your balcony (if you have a balcony cabin). You can also smoke on deck (they try hard to restrict smoking to one side of the decks) and in the casino. As to the other public rooms it can vary by ship but there are usually some bars where there are smoking areas. There is absolutely no smoking in dining areas or the show rooms.

thanks. I am a non smoker and dislike sitting somewhere and then someone blowing smoke over where I am sitting. We have booked an O/S and hope we do not the smoke blowing over and around our cabin.

Being from Aus and I was on the Sun earlier this year and there was no smoking in the Casino or anywhere inside. May be as the Sun is classed as a Aus ship the Australian smoking regulations apply!

Smoking is permited in cabins and balconies. In addition, most evenings, it is allowed in the casino. Part of the Tahitian lounge (starboard side) is designated a smoking area. Part of the port side by the pool is a smoking area. I think there is a smoking area on the promenade on deck 5, but not sure.

on the Sun Princess you cant smoke anywhere inside but you can smoke on your balcony or in your cabin and in desingated areas outside on the port side

with p&o australia they have a more stricter smoking policy where smoking is banned in the cabins and balconys

You may wait more than a "little" while. Princess caters to smokers.... They drink more and gamble more. Nuff $aid.

Well, I've heard that argument for ages (think seventies, eighties AND nineties). Seems Celebrity Cruise Line would show they can survive without smoking in the casinos, not to mention that smoking is already prohibited in the majority of the bars in the mass market cruise lines. You say "Nuff said" I say, "Not so fast...";);)

but there are more non smokers nowadays so if they stopped the smoking in the casion, they would have more people (non smokers) going and gambling and drinking!!

And X have commissioned 3 new ships since introducing their restrictive policy plus have 2 new ships in the yards...also don't seem to have to cut rates as much a Princess to fill their ships....emmmm. The times they are a changing Princess.

Are you saying that there was no smoking every night in the casino? Very surprising if so. :)

but there are more non smokers nowadays so if they stopped the smoking in the casion, they would have more people (non smokers) going and gambling and drinking!!

They're only assuming that the non smokers will tolerate it. (for now anyway)

Why is it that these post turn up every two or three weeks. Enough is enough.

The Dawn/Sun are based in Australia on a permanent basis, cruise account is in Aus. dollars, so no surprise that other rules/regulations may apply.

I read somewhere, too, about the casino being closed a great deal due to the itineraries.

Due to Australian regulations the Casino is only open once you leave Australian Waters. On my last cruise leaving from Freamantle in WA, it was a couple of days before the casino opened due to still being in Australian waters.

the casino is closed in West Australia because of the Government and all the other states allow the casino to be open once the ship has taken off from the port
