Anyone Ever Add a 3-night cruise AFTER they got back from a 4-night?

We will be on a 4-night Monarch cruise in January. If we really enjoy it we might want to stay right on board, if at all possible, and do the 3-night one as well. Has anyone ever done this? We wouldn't make the decision until after the 4-night cruise. I realize the 3-nighter may be fully booked by that time so we would be out of luck, but....if they do have staterooms available how difficult is it to get one THAT day? If they do have rooms left, do you pay the amount as stated on the web site or do they give deeper discounts the day of sailing?

We have done it but not on the day of Sailing, we planned ahead and did back to back cruises. It was great. Originally we were planning to spend a couple days in FL after the cruise but found a deal so we did 7 nights on Freedom and then did 4 on Sovereign. It is not uncommon for people to do back to back on the same ship. My parents just got back from such an adventure. They had to switch cabins between cruises but it happens so often the cruise line was well prepared for it.

 

I would be worried that the second cruise you are trying to do gets sold out before you have a chance to book it. Your best bet if you decide to wait until you are on board is to talk to the Loyalty Ambassador right away and see if there are any cabins left for the next cruise.

I don't think you can do it that way because of Homeland Security. Now I may be wrong so please no one yell at me if I am:p but I have always heard that the ship has to turn in a passenger manifest 24 hours or something like that before sailing. That being said they might make exceptions if you are on board and want to book again. I would check into that aspect though for sure. Maybe the 2nd day in if you like it enough book then to give ample time for whatever regulations are in place.

TSA must have the passenger list 3 days prior to sailing, is what i heard. So no you cannot book a cruise immediately at the dock and turn it into a back to back with the one you just got off.

Once on Grandeur (2006) and more recently (a year or so ago) announcements were made on board on the last night and the following morning that "cabins were available for the next cruise and go to Guest Relations if interested".

We don't want to book it now, we'd rather wait and see how the 4-nighter goes. I'm anticipating a great, fun cruise but we'd still just rather wait. Maybe by the second night we'd know and we could do as one poster suggested and see about booking it on-board. Or just wait and see the last morning if cabins are still unsold and see if we can get one. If they need to turn their passenger list in a day or two ahead of time, we would probably be out of luck. But if it is as another poster said we might be able to go to guest relations and get a cabin on the next cruise. We shall see. :)

Pre planning B2B on Majesty for $499 pp 7 days to make diamond....loved that cruise! They gave us a bottle of champagne between cruises. Visited the places we missed on the first leg on the second...great way to see Nassau and Key West.

like one of the posters above, homeland security has a rule in place where they need to close the list and you can't book. i know because i tried to add a last minute cruiser to one of my cruises. i think the deadline is 3 days.

 

i did a quick google search and a lot of posts came up. try googling or asking rccl directly.

 

i would love it if this rule didn't exist. i would love to walk on the ship the last day and hope for a last minute deal.
