Sandielle Posted January 17, 2011 #134 Share Posted January 17, 2011 David, why can't my computer save these photos like I could on the Gatun photos? (I had to do it with my Snap programme.) This Miraflores HD cam is marvellous. You could almost touch those people watching. Wonder how much they charge them for the privilege???)

This Miraflores HD cam is marvellous. You could almost touch those people watching. Wonder how much they charge them for the privilege???) There are several tours that you can now do at the Panama Canal Sandi. If you check out some of the HAL or Celebrity canal cruises, they offer shore tours. You can go to that building which also houses a museum , I think, you can cross the Centennial Bridge, you can take the rail alongside the canal, and I have even seen one tour where you can sail through the locks in a small boat. I still havent worked out if these tours are for ships that stop , or whether passengers tender ashore and then back again to rejoin the ship. Perhaps someone who has been through the canal recently could comment?

Kiwi Kruzer Posted January 18, 2011 Author #141 Share Posted January 18, 2011 Its always fun following a ship through the canal. Thank you for going to the trouble to do this. :) Barry will be very interested to see these when he gets home. Aus Traveller Posted January 19, 2011 #149 Share Posted January 19, 2011 We received an email from Barry. He said he was able to look at his blog and noticed that Sandy has posted a comment that they watched the Arcadia go through the Panama. He asked me to put a post on the forum on his behalf, but it probably simplest if I just post part of his email. This is his email - I managed to have a look at my own blog on the WWW yesterday - and saw that Sandy had placed a comment on it saying that she was watching Arcadia going through Panama. Haven't seen CC. Could you kindly place a post there on my behalf and thank everybody for their interest. We have some longish periods of sea-days ahead of us now - 2 to Acapulco, 3 then to San Francisco, 4 to Hawaii, 4 to Pago Pago. We still have 4 weeks to go before we arrive home - it seems like we have been away for a million years!! Can barely remember the early parts of the Oriana cruise - just as well we have taken many photos and snippets of video. Have found it very difficult to get good photos - there is never any time to compose a good photo on the shore tours, everything is always done on the run! The ship is so large and Panama Canal workings yesterday so large that it was difficult to photograph - could only get small bits of it all. Will need a long REST when we get home. Oh , I forgot - we have to go on QM2 only a week after we return. After that, I will definitely need a long rest!! Regards, Barry.
