Yep ... it's just as addicting as this board. :D ;)

Sorry, but I've been wanting to ask for a loooooong time... What does "Friend of Hyacinth" mean?

If my question is too nosy, or impertinent, just tell me to take a hike. (The walk could do me some good.)

Jim and Ruth left today to once again cruise the high seas.

Yes, Jim and Ruth headed to FLL today and will board the another HAL ship tomorrow :) But if you hang around FB and are friends with Jim you will see he is highly addicted like many of us ;) ...........hmmmmm wonder if he will chalk up internet minutes on board for FB? :D

Long story! LOL

So to make it short, here's a brief summary. ;)

A friend of mine asked if it was possible to get a bucket of beer on QM2.

The resulting answer was yes, so some other shipmates brought a chrome bucket, and everyone in our group used it for our purpose of keeping it stocked with our favourite ales.

The name Hyacinth was selected from the show "Keeping Up Appearances", after the shows heroine, Mrs Bucket. :D

Henceforth, "Friends of Hyacinth" was formed.

Love it! Thanks! Many more 'memory making moments' to you!

And thank you for asking! ;)

The memories of that are more than precious for me, and I'll always treasure them. But it's a shame that all I have are pictures of that.

Sadly, "Hyacinth" was banished to the crew pub. So it's not possible to enjoy her usefullness anymore. :(

I have a shot of myself using Hyacinth as headgear. LOL

I'll look for it in my FB album, and post it here.

Since Jim and Ruth are happily sailing, I trust the OP will not be too upset that this thread has been temporarily hijacked? :o

But you have to admit that a Hyacinth on a Head photo is worth it, no? :D

Like the saying goes ... a picture is worth a thousand words. :)
