cptncrunch Posted November 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Sorry forgot what the term was for when you have to go through the whole life jacket, safety thing. But how long does that orientation usually last.

2Oregonians Posted November 30, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Depends on where your Muster station is. 3 times we had a small group on deck 7 near the photo shop. This time we had to go to the Theater, and it took a lot longer because of lots of people having to file in and take their seats. And then, unless you were lucky enough to sit in the back, it takes longer to get out.

And they emptied it row by row, from the front. So, there was no 'let's go late and be the first out'. EM
Toto2Kansas Posted November 30, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 30, 2010 We have always tried to be the last in, which means first out, at princess muster drills (and it always works well). ;)
CrusinAgain Posted November 30, 2010 #8 Share Posted November 30, 2010 Also depends if you can climb the stairs back to your cabin, the elevators are stuffed especially on a mature age passenger cruise.

EM That's why when you're trying on your life jacket you should also be moving towards the exit door at the same time. The very next statement will release the crowd to return to their cabins & if you're at the head of the crowd it make life much easier.

I'm out of there in no time and up on deck for sailaway. Crew do try to show you to a seat so you have to hang back to the last minute. It's the most frustrating part of my cruise. No matter how many times they ask people not to put the lifejackets on until instructed, all you can hear is velcro and buckles as some put them on at the same time as the demonstrators.
