the drinking age is 18 in Mexico, so if you are going there then she can drink. But not on the ship. Her sail and sign card will marked ( not sure how but they do somehow encode or somehow mark the Underage card).

Not on the ship, but she would be able to purchase alcohol in pretty much every port.

No - but if you want you could buy two rum and cokes or other drinks from the bar and I coubt anyone will notice or care unless she causes problems. Glasses of wine and DODs might be too noticeable. Have a good cruise! :)

however...i took my first cruise when i was 16 (with my mom, aunt, uncle, cousin & her husband, etc). basically a much older crowd! anyways, i never had a problem ever drinking onboard (typically i'd order my drinks at the shows, etc with the rest of the adults & my mom would hand over hard card to pay for them).

 

i think the under 21 cards are indicated as such somehow. so i think as long as your daughter doesn't attempt to use her sign & sail for drink purchases you should be fine.

It will not be a problem for you to purchase drinks for your daughter.;)

We did it on a couple of cruises.

We also brought Rum Runners, and made our own drinks.

 

Like some others have said, she will be able to drink on the Islands no problem!!:rolleyes:

There are only 4 countries in the world that have a drinking age of 21 and that is the US so she will most likely be able to drink in every port. Just shows how backwards our country really is... you can marry... you can die for your country... you can buy cigarettes... you can't have a drink? This country needs to decide when you are an adult... period. One legal adult age and that is that.... not... oh you can't drink but you are married and in the service killing for our country for the past two years... are you an adult or not.

You better hope it doesn't. Not only would the government have to raise taxes to make up for what they would lose on liquor tax, but the cruise line would have to jack the rate up to make up for the money they wouldn't be making off of booze!

 

If it does, it would be alright with me. I'd start a speakeasy and run

molasses across the boarder, sounds like fun!

The ships follow the US drinking age. She would have to be 21 to drink on the ship. That being said, depending on where you are going, she may be able to drink in port.

Yep, I bought my son his drinks on our first cruise-- He was 19 and already served one year in the marine corp.

The US has decided you are an adult at 18, and considered a minor until the age of 21. There are many times one must be 21 to enjoy something.

 

US casinos=21

Indian casinos=18

 

Buy a shotgun=18

Buy a handgun=21

 

And although one is an adult and allowed to vote at 18, to be President, one must be over 35.

 

And we don't kill for our country, we defend this great nation.

How about the new thing, kids can stay on their parrents medical coverage untill they are 26 years old, so at 27 you become an adult? Just to add to your goofy things.

All depends where you are and how you look at it. Most countries have a limit of 18, so it wrong for your 18 year old to drink in Mexico (where it is legal?).

For that matter, for years, (I think they changed it), RCL allowed 18-21 year olds to buy wine/beer.
