Alexandria or Ashdod?

I toured Egypt in 2010 but left out Alexandria because i was planning a cruise this year. Now my dilemma is do i plan a cruise that goes to Alexandria or would it be better to rather go to Ashdod. Is it worth spending two days in Alexandria? Or would it be better to have the two days in Israel. Help!

We're doing both on an upcoming cruise...so no need to pick one over the other!

If you've been to Egypt but never to Israel, I'd advise spending the time in Israel.

 

While I had a terrific day in Alexandria last fall with a private guide (link below), I don't think there's more than a day's worth of touring the city.

On the same cruise we spent two days in Israel (one day in Haifa and one in Ashdod) and I felt we barely scratched the surface. I am going back on a land tour in March to see more. :)

Thank you - thats what i needed to know. I was just feeling that after touring Egypt and Jordan i had missed the middle of the two which is Israel and i wasnt sure there was enough to see in Alexandria itself for an overnight layover
