Bear Viewing Out of Ketichikan

Need any tips, tour company recommendations or any other helpful info. for bear viewing excurisions out of Ketichikan. We'll be there July 16.

I would recommend the Neets Bay floatplane tour. Have been on it twice and saw LOTS of bears, some as close as 15 or 20 feet.

They are too early for Neets bay. The last several years, Neets hasn't started tours until the third week of July.

We were there mid-August in 2007 and if was fantastic! Spent a few hours and there was never a time there weren't bears there. Check out the link in my signature for pics. It was a highlight of our cruise. :D

Hi there - we were there in August last year and we went to Traitors Cove with Island Wings - it was fantastic. Saw loads of bears catching salmon at a waterfall and they came really close. We later went to a bridge that was over a river that the bears were walking down. Lots of great photo ops. I notice on Island Wings website that they go to Anan Creek from July to August and then to Traitors Cove for August and September. Hope you get to see lots of bears and have an awesome holiday.:)

I'm curious, too. I take it prime bear viewing changes with the calendar. We'll be in Ketchican August 26th, so is one location better for that time of year?

It just occurred to me - we are thinking of the Breakaway Adventures tour to Anan from Wrangell. We will be in both places. Which would be the best port to tour Anan from?

Will be in Alaska from 6/18 to 7/1 and would like to do a Bear viewing tour, any suggesitons? Would really love to see them fish if possible.

We went to Anan Creek from Ketchikan on July 10th of last year. It was AMAZING!!! We saw so many bears and was in the middle of it all. LOVED IT! You can read my full review with photos and video here:
