rdrseller Posted February 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2011 How often can you use this service, if you are platinum? I forgot to use it last cruise and wondered before I sail on the next. I am gonna make the most of it!!! Thanks,
DANCING GRANDMOMMY Posted February 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2011 Wish someone would answer you, because I am also curious. I am also a little leary. I picture huge vats of boiling water shrinking my clothes (My weight already does enough of that:)) So has anyone else used this perk?
Bo Didly Posted February 1, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2011 On the Dream it was stated only once . Obviously over crowded ship  DW and i use it twice on most of our seven day cruises .
kicia Posted February 1, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2011 You can use it every day if you need to.
DANCING GRANDMOMMY Posted February 1, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2011 And the condition of your clothing?
rdrseller Posted February 1, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted February 1, 2011 :D If I can use it every day, I will. I won't take any dirty clothes home. If I can only use once...I will wait till next to last day and maximize the benefit. Thanks for all the comments.
Sargent_Schultz Posted February 1, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2011 They do sometimes limit it. To use it every day would be absurd. Abusing the program might well result in permanent modification, if not elimination.
LRene Posted February 1, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 1, 2011 And the condition of your clothing? Not real good. Picture (while you're picturing) your clothes all on one mesh bag in a large washer with a bunch of other mesh bags. Then dried until crispy well done and thrown in a bin to get REALLY wrinkled and then somewhat folded, wrinkles and all. I'd never send my clothes but have sent some denim and my dh's underwear and swim trunks. Also, beware of fading clothing. Not yours necessarily, but others that they put them in with. Whites don't come back real white sometimes.

So I don't think it will be seen as abuse.
Bo Didly Posted February 1, 2011 #10 Share Posted February 1, 2011 And the condition of your clothing? Not so good :D, I just send things like shorts and T's and jeans etc. The wash is OK, but the Fold that's another story  I wouldn't send any shirts of value, not unless your willing to loose weight over night

Rosefloater Posted February 1, 2011 #13 Share Posted February 1, 2011 They wash in hot water. I have only put in clothes that have been washed many times at home so there is little chance of shrinkage. I usually put in socks, underwear and shirts. Nothing delicate. My mom said a shirt had shrunk but my clothes (in the same bag) came back fine. Also, our clothes didn't come back wrinkled. It depends on who has folding duty. Make sure you put "Platinum" on the bag and on the laundry form. If you give the bag to your room steward in the morning, you should get it back by dinnertime. For a 7+ day cruise, we will use the service once or twice.

Sargent_Schultz Posted February 1, 2011 #15 Share Posted February 1, 2011 Well there are only two of us and I won't abuse...if it is offered ever day, the amount sent would be less. So I don't think it will be seen as abuse. Didn't mean to imply that you will, but some people do, including sending in laundry for friends, family, and others that aren't Platinum. The bags aren't big to begin with, and the cabin steward has to make a special trip to drop the laundry off and also have to return it. I always tip extra. There is no guaranty of same day service, and depending on the port, the laundry may be closed for environmental reasons, so plan ahead. They generally do an ok job for me, but I wouldn't send anything too fine, sentimental, or irreplaceable. There is nothing in the cruise contract that I see about laundry, but there is almost certainly a limit on their liability. I usually send everything out; my girlfriend is a lot more selective. PaulMedik Posted February 1, 2011 #16 Share Posted February 1, 2011 I sent 100% silk Tommy Bahama shirts and they came back just fine. Everything was neatly folded.
DANCING GRANDMOMMY Posted February 1, 2011 #17 Share Posted February 1, 2011 Thanks all for the input. I think our beach towel ( I bring my own, I don't want to pay $22 for someone (even unintentionally) to walk off with my towel) and my honey's undies and jeans will be all that go to the laundry for us. boaterette Posted February 1, 2011 #18 Share Posted February 1, 2011 I love this perk. I give it to the room steward before nine in the morning and it comes back the next day. I have never had a problem. It comes back folded and has not had wrinkles. We use it at least three times a cruise.
Bo Didly Posted February 1, 2011 #19 Share Posted February 1, 2011 I sent 100% silk Tommy Bahama shirts and they came back just fine. Everything was neatly folded. In that case ,Carnival owes me two
mek Posted February 1, 2011 #20 Share Posted February 1, 2011 It's especially great for longer cruises. What we sent came back nicely folded with no wrinkles on or last Carnival cruise - a 12 night Med.
IGGY63 Posted February 1, 2011 #21 Share Posted February 1, 2011 I used the service once. Never again.... My Polo's came back so wrinkled.....they are not the same. They ruined one nylon shirt. it used to be white, I now use it for painting.... I LOVE everything about Carnival, except their laundry service.
lillian marie Posted February 1, 2011 #22 Share Posted February 1, 2011 We've had no problems with the laundry service. It's always come back great.
scperk Posted February 1, 2011 #23 Share Posted February 1, 2011 And the condition of your clothing? We have used it quite a bit and have never had any clothes ruined.. I tip my room steward for taking care of our laundry because we added up one bag we sent in on the Conquest and it would have cost me $42 for that one bag..Dennis
snista Posted February 1, 2011 #24 Share Posted February 1, 2011 Had it for the first time last week. On the 6 day cruise we sent 3 bags. Got them back the next day each time. One pair of my short looked like wrinkles had been ironed into them  but everything else was great. I was definitely a welcomed perk. I LOVED being platinum for the first time. mcwebber Posted February 1, 2011 #25 Share Posted February 1, 2011 I've routinely crammed a lot of clothes into one bag and gotten back two bags of folded clothes since they need to close the end of the bag.
