VIP Luggage Tags?

I buy everything on eBay, so I did a search today to see if maybe there were any drink coupons, etc. for sale on the site.

What I found were several auctions for "VIP Luggage Tags" that, according to the sellers, allow you to be among the first to pick up your luggage for debarkation, saving you "hours" of standing in line. The sellers assure you that you will have no problem using them.

Does anyone know anything about these? Any advice? Should I buy some? Are they worth it? Would I be asking for trouble?

Iv heard G'ma saying quite a few times she sells her priority tags on ebay and people buy them.

I give mine away. I do self debarkation and dont wait for numbers to be called. You try and sneak off with VIP and then put in a card that isnt silver, they might think you are in a suite and no one knows any better, but I sure wouldnt pay a dime for something I give away.

If you have an early flight let guest services know or use early self-debark. No need to spend $ on those things. Even saw some offered on eBay with a TI coupon. You can get many of those coupons onboard for free.

We like to be the last off the ship and are still off by 10a.

Being VIP (Platinum Members) on Carnival, I find it extremely funny that people actually buy those tags on ebay! As VIP members, we use those tags. However, we also have to show our Platinum Sail & Sign cards in order to leave the ship. So without the Platinum card, you won't be able to disembark the ship early...unless you have a very early flight or do self-debarkation.

So if you have these tags and don't have the card, your luggage will be waiting in the VIP area whenever you do disembark.

I've been carrying my luggage a few times and have found the times I used those tags my bags were not where they were supposed to be, and one time were no where to be found. Somehow my bag, with the platinum tag, was lost somewhere "out back" when it turned up.

That's what I was suspicious of... Those auctions sure are getting the bids, too! Shame on those sellers...

Platinum members are also given a "secret" location to meet for disembarkation and escorted off the ship by a staff memeber so even if you had the tags how would you know where to meet to be escorted off. Im pretty sure if you just randomly went to get off the ship without being escorted by the crew and didnt have a platinum badge they might be a bit suspicious.

Someone said that without the proper color s&s card people debarking out of order will not be allowed off the ship.

We accidentally debarked with the self assist folks once when DH thought he heard our zone, or whatever, called.

The kid who was manning the s&s scanner started to ask DS where his bag was and the cd, who was supervising, called to the kid to let him go and keep the line moving.

I have not had the impression that Carnival's employees are concerned about what color s&s cards the customers have.

It seems to me, so far anyway, that customers like to feel that they're special, but we really are just paying to ride their boat.

And on debarkation morning they just want us gone.

I can see them perhaps questioning debarking passengers if there is no line, but has anyone actually seen them hold up the line to keep someone on the ship a few minutes longer?

they also give the #1 tags to people with early flights so they can use without the platnum card and everyone has to show thier card to leave ship

shame on those buyers who buy worthless stuff that can be had for free once onboard.

I once saw those VIP tags that someone won for 9.99 EACH for 2 tags.

G'ma is continually bragging she sells the stuff from her cruises and gets enough to pay for more cruises by selling on ebay.

My thought is shame on people trying to be sneaky and buying them too. If someone is dumb enough to think by buying them they can sneak off early, its on their heads too.

Are we talking about the tags with a number on them (low number being early off)? Or the luggage tags that say VIP (but your room number is also on there)? You can be VIP without being platinum. I'm not platinum and have always had priority debark... so what does the color of my S&S have to do with anything? Just curious.

. . . I have not had the impression that Carnival's employees are concerned about what color s&s cards the customers have.

Exactly.

In 30 CCL sailings (21 of those being Platinum/Milestone) on multiple ships, never once has a CCL crew member handling debarkation given a tinker's damn what color my ship card was. They just want me off the ship, with the multitude of others, so they can start the entire process all over again.

If you follow the picture direction on the A-Pass machine, the face of the card is designed to be down, and the magnetic stripe side up. Handing the card to the crew member that way offers zero observation on their part as to what color your card it.

They simply don't (and probably shouldn't) care whatsoever.

I am like you not Platinum but VIP, we also get off with number 1 tags.

The color of the sail and sign card just makes them visibly platinum.

Yes, and they don't announce to the ship that the Platinum guests are to go to the gangway. Someone comes to escort the group off the ship. They could be sitting there quite a while waiting for Platinum to be called.

It's not just platinum guests who get the priority disembark. Suite passengers do, too. They get the group 1 or 2 luggage tags and the letter with the location of the lounge where they will be met and escorted off the ship right after those who self-disembark. So color of S&S card is irrelevant. Just be in the proper location. Once you're off the ship, your bags will be in the number section that matches the tags. (if you know the location, it doesn't even matter what tags you have - your bags will be in their number area.)

On the Spirit in Nov., they were checking to see whether or not one was Platinum during debarkation. Some non-Platinum people tried to get in line, and were promptly told to get out of line and wait for their # to be called.

Last May we were in a suite on the Valor (not platinum) and we had number 1 debarkation tags. When 1 was called we got our carry ons and walked right off the ship... nobody gave a rats behind what color our cards were.

I do however think it's ridiculous that someone would waste the money on these when they can do self assist and be off the ship earlier. If we didn't have #1 tags we probably would have lounged around on board and enjoyed breakfast. Unless you have an early flight no need to rush around.

That was the point I was making. I think perhaps some Platinum folks don't like or don't accept that fact. It's often ignored when discussed.

They did a Sign and Sale Platinum card check on the Elation yesterday as we were walking through the atrium. Quite embarrassing for some. We do leave a specific location with a Carnival employee but these folks just break into the line.

.....................................................................................

It's not that the customer likes to feel special.

Carnival separates their customers in categories.

Blue cards, Gold cards, Platinum cards, White cards .

In reality Carnival wants their customers to feel SPECIAL
