Upgrade/upsell when specific cabin booked

We booked an assigned cabin VD 4133 for a back-to-back cruise in the fall. Does HAL ever offer upgrades/upsells to those who have an assigned cabin or do they only go to guarantees?:confused:

Free complementary upgrades depend on whether you (or your travel agents) ticked the box that informs HAL that you authorize them to do it when you originally booked.

 

Upsells are offered to everyone regardless.

We always book a specific cabin and are open to upgrades or upsells. Since there is only one cabin to go ;) we have little risk as to the location or any surprises.

 

We've had upsell offers in the past as have our friends. some are great and some are not - don't think too long on the good ones - they'll be gone :D

Upsells are offered to people who book specific cabins. We've gotten them.

DD booked a guarantee obstructed view - got moved up to unobstructed view when her cabin was assigned - and then got an upsell offer to a VA or VB.

We've gotten an upsell offer when we've booked a specific cabin once out of five times. We've gotten free upgrades when we've booked guarantees nine out of eight times - that is, we were re-assigned higher once so we got two upgrades on one of the guarantee bookings. :D

We just got off the Westerdam yesterday.We booked in Oct of 2010.We choose our Cabin j 8056,midship inside,but were told we were directly under the pool. After final payment we saw an available Cat J on Main floor midship that appeared to be larger.T/A was able to change us to that room without a problem.3 days before sailing we got an e-mail Upsell offer to an AFT Balcony VA for an extremely minimal price.Naturally we jumped on it.It was fabulous.So grateful to have been given the opportunity to cruise in that cabin.
