*Mach* Posted March 25, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Welcome to Cruise Critic!!! The advantage of your cabin is that there should be very little motion. You're below the port side of the Casino and I doubt there'll be a great deal of noise from above... maybe 'ding ding ding' occasionally... $840... nope... I don't think it's worth it. :)
mzloolue Posted March 25, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 25, 2011 The lowest deck is perfectly fine and basically identical to most of the other decks. On the plus side, you will feel movement less. I like the windows on the lower decks too...closer to the water and I keep hoping to see a whale or a dolphin.:)
hankandteri Posted March 25, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2011 If you're extra sensitive to noise, deck 8 is just below the Lido deck, so you might experience some noise if you go that high on the ship. If you want to be between decks of cabins, try decks 5, 6 or 7. But I agree with Host Mach. I wouldn't spend that kind of money on the chance that there might be a tiny bit of noise in the cabin. bumorgan Posted March 25, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Stay where you are. I don't think it's worth it. As they stated noise should not be a problem.
davy jones Posted March 25, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Let us know how much noise that you encounter. Mach is right about the less motion. If you can't hear the casino, it will likely be a quiet floor.
mrpayroll Posted March 25, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Take the $840.00 and set it aside. You will have a GREAT start towards your next cruise....
Missiowa Posted March 25, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 25, 2011 our first cruise we were on deck 2 inside. Everyone told us horror stories(rats, sewer smells, ect). None of this was true. It was fine. For us, we spent most of our time on the lido deck or exploring the ship. For us, it was small(4 of us) and got quite small changing for dinner but it really is just a place to sleep. Save your money, lots of other places to spend that $840!
tkat Posted March 25, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Save your $$$. I have been under the casino and the only noise I heard was the man snoring in the room next to me late at night when everything was quite.

truchattycathy Posted March 25, 2011 #11 Share Posted March 25, 2011 I've only been down there once. Yes less motion. The only drawback for us was waiting on elevators, so we just took the stairs a lot. I have booked my next two cruises down there to save money and to try a PT. Hope you have a great time and you can use the money you save to buy some FCC's for all of you!

sparkscruiser Posted March 25, 2011 #13 Share Posted March 25, 2011 You are wise to save the money! You can use it for the deposit on your next cruise. Welcome to Cruise Critic.
mama_2_boys Posted March 25, 2011 #14 Share Posted March 25, 2011 If you are really concerned about the noise then take a sound machine or something to cut out the noise. I think you will be fine though. We have stayed up high and down low and honestly both were fine. Save your $ and put it towards another cruise. Have fun! DocF Posted March 25, 2011 #15 Share Posted March 25, 2011 There is not a thing wrong with Deck 1 on any ship in the fleet. The only time we ever were bothered with a odor issue we were on Deck 2 and the problem was coming from an access locker outside our cabin. The plumbers and sanitation officer determined that it would require repair in port. No one will look down on you or in any way will your experience be any different than anyone else on the ship. I do jokingly refer to the Riviera deck (1) as living in the bilge, but the only person that upsets is DW. Doc
CwuzCwazy Posted March 25, 2011 #16 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Hey, you're on a ship having fun cruising....how bad could it be?
Minouli Posted March 25, 2011 #17 Share Posted March 25, 2011 The plus side is it's closer to the gangway when getting back on the ship in port.
silkhair1 Posted March 25, 2011 #18 Share Posted March 25, 2011 I am down there too on our cruise! We are right by the laundry! We willbe ont he ship, and that is what matters!
pafam4 Posted March 25, 2011 #19 Share Posted March 25, 2011 We stayed on deck 1 on the Freedom and loved it! On port days, it is so easy to disembark. No waiting in long lines snaking down the staircases. Also, when coming back from port, its just up a few steps and you're at your cabin! Very convenient. We never really had a problem getting elevators to the upper levels of the ship. Have a wonderful cruise!
Jolimont Posted March 25, 2011 #20 Share Posted March 25, 2011 We had an inside on deck 2 once and I could hear the engines, but I am a super light sleeper. I would rather not do that again, but I wouldn't pay $800 more for a higher cabin. Once you're on the ship, you're good to go!

We've been in cabin #1194 & 1180 on Miracle and have booked #1194 on Legend for next January. Both of these ships are sister ships of Carnival Pride. Great location. No noise and less motion. The only time we used the elevator was to go to the Lido deck buffet. I also agree that it's easier when getting on & off the ship at the ports. My SO prefers lowest deck midship inside so he won't get seasick.
djsperry3 Posted March 25, 2011 #22 Share Posted March 25, 2011 See, they all agree! Deck 1 will be fine...and, good point...save the $840 for NEXT TIME!!! :D See you in 8 days!!!

JD4Nati Posted March 25, 2011 #24 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Thank you for asking this question. My family and I are booked on deck 1 on the freedom in July and I had the same concerns. We booked low and in the middle because I was afraid of sea sickness. Looks like we made a good choice.
