with just 3 bottles of wine -- put it in your carry-on

now that hal allows you to go directly to your cabin upon embarkation -- you don't have to worry about lugging it all over the ship

Well, not quite! ;) At least on my recent HAL 14-Day Southern Caribbean cruise, onboard ms Maasdam, with the (new) "Stateroom Direct' program, the staterooms were not ready when boarding commenced at 1120! It was announced at 1205 that the staterooms were ready! Close enough though! ;)

We're getting ready to leave for Barcelona on the Nieuw Amsterdam.

I have not seen this question covered on this board. Does anyone know if 1.5L wine bottles are allowed in the restaurants with an $18 corkage fee? Thanks!

yes indeed 1.5 is king! I drink red, DW drinks white, so its 2 bottles down to MDR. I bought her 1.5l of Pinot Grigio and there was no problem. Lasted her 3 days. only 1 corkage. (actually, only 1 corkage for the 2 bottles :D)
