Experienced Princess Cruisers: Tell Me About Caribeean Princess

kicker

Recommended Posts

The Ship, Officers, Staff and crew are great.

Most other things as well are!

Princess is so similar to Cunard as they do even share most of the same facilities Worldwide now since Carnivalized.

One lacking area is the Shows.

If your a shareholder CCL/CUK :NYSE/LSE you do have that wonderful Shareholder Benefit of OBC..eh..

Better than RCL :NYSE as it does have a Dividend.

9 cruises under our belt: an old Carnival one, 7 Royal Caribbean, 1 Celebrity. Trying Caribbean Princess out of NYC in August because it fits our schedule best.

So, what can you tell me about the ship? Or, for that matter, about Princess? I've read a number of reviews on the CP, and have perused these boards, but being a lazy individual, I thought I'd let the comments come to me instead of searching for them:rolleyes:.

Any comments positive or negative are welcome. And, if it makes a difference, it'll be myself (57) and DW. Thanks in advance.

I am thinking of booking the Caribbean Princess for 2012.

Does anybody have any recommendations for an obstructed view cabin? Cabins E230,E231, E228, E229 seem to be between lifeboats.

Does anybody have pictures of an obstructed cabin?

Had an amazing cruise on the Caribbean Princess, it was also my first Princess cruise. We actually have her repo booked for next week! But one note some area yes can get crowed IMO the Photo Gallery Area was like a mad house but everything else was quite spaceous. Also the shows were kind of boring so we didn't go to them but they did show alot of good movies on MUTS. Highly recommend this ship.

Kicker...I am also cruising on the Caribbean Princess soon and I would love to view the blog by Wilfros but I am unable to find the link.

Could you please tell me how you accessed the link for the blog?

A lot of great comments about the CB and I can't wait to sail.

How do you know the shows are boring if you didn't go to them?

The shows are similar to what they had on HAL. Not boring but not Broadway. Some of the acts brought in are very good. It's a nice way to spend an hour or so. And, there is a lot of entertainment on board. The Piaza area on Plaza deck is the hub and heartbeat of the ship. There seems to be something going on a good part of the time. Everything from a classical pianist to a young lady with a hula hoop or a guy juggling knives, and everything in between. There is also a small group that plays in various bar areas, and the piano bar. Also, lots of fun things like CB Idol. I also understand that they now have a CB choir that is comprised of passengers who volunteer and get together and rehearse both singing and light choreography and then present a little show in the Piaza. Sounds like fun and I plan to participate!

This is an awesome ship and I look forward to getting on her again in August.

Just noticed your question. Wilfros had a link to the blog in his original post - it appears CC has edited the post and removed the link. I assume it has to do with their policy of not promoting certain types of links, websites or blogs; I know I've tried passing on info on other sites, and they'll block out the info. Too bad - it had really great pics.

We have found that the midship cabins on the Emerald deck are the best!! If you book a room directly over one of those mini boats (E415, 416, 417, 418, 419...or thereabouts), you will save a ton of money and really not have much of an obstructed view. The ones directly in the middle will cost a little more and give you a little less obstructed view but not too much more....so would suggest saving the $$'s for one room down. The cabins on the port side are directly under the jewelry store and so nice and quiet.

I love this class of Princess ship. Love the outside clamshell area fully forward on promenade/emerald decks. I'm a fan of MUTS for evening movies. Food is good, pizza is best at sea. I can't say this ship or its sisters feel any more or less crowded than any other ship or line I've sailed. I like to check out various cruiselines to form my own opinions too. And every cruise has been great.

Will write full review after my return from its repo to NYC May 1-8!!

next week at this time: ANTIGUA! aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh

We took this cruise last July to the Eastern Caribbean out of Brooklyn and like it so much that we are doing it again on June 4th. We had a balcony on Caribe deck - the largest balconies, half covered and half open. Embarkation was the quickest and easiest of all our cruises, getting off at the end was just as easy. Service was great, food was great, casino was lots of fun thanks to the hostess, Olga (hope she is still on board this year). I really can't think of anything to complain about. You will have a wonderful time!!!

Gary and Lynne

See you June 4! We'll be there too, it's our first Princess cruise (have sailed Carnival, Disney and Royal Caribbean) on Riveria deck, Balcony room. Was actually hoping for a private and covered balcony since we are right below the Lido deck... Crossing my fingers there isn't much noise.

Heading out on the CB for the 3rd time May 17th. It'll be like "going home" :)

My favorite spots on this ship are the International Cafe for great snacks and people watching and entertainment, the Sanctuary (fee involved) but so worth it, and the people who work on the ship and the Speciality Resturants are top notch and worth the extra $20-$25.. The wait staff in the dining rooms are so friendly and attentive as are all the other people on the ship. We have never had a single problem with Princess - guess that we keep going back. From the minute we get to the pier for easy boarding to the time we leave her, easy disembarkation - we have great memories. If youre looking for an activity filled cruise, you'll get it. If you're looking for peace and quiet - you 'll get it. Food is delicious, rooms are great, balconies the best and as I'm writing this I cannot think of any negative to say (except the bathrooms run small in the cabin) but we fixed that this time around by getting a mini suite ! WhooHoo!!!!

Enjoy your cruise. It's a fabulous Ship.

:)
