Just received an email and of course I have to share with my Family Board peeps! :D Loving that the cruise lines are recognizing the FAMILIES! YEAYYYY! (ya hear that RCL????? :p)

Norwegian Cruise Line has a surefire way for you to be a vacation hero to your family. It’s this easy. Just book a stateroom with two full-fare paying guests on a select 2011 fall cruise sometime between May 1 and May 7, and, pow – two kids (age 17 and under) can come along for FREE*.

That’s money you can spend on things like swimming with dolphins, kayaking, parasailing and more. It’s an amazing family value on an amazing cruise line.

FREESTYLE CRUISINGregOrange.gif FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY.

Freestyle CruisingregBlack.gif means everyone gets to do exactly what they want. While the kids are enjoying things like Nickelodeon at Sea™, plunging waterslides, a two-story Wii™ wall, a bowling alley and programs just for them, you can be lounging at the spa, gaming in the casino, watching first-class, live entertainment or enjoying a quiet dinner for two. And our family friendly, flexible accommodations mean there’s room for togetherness and privacy. When you have thousands of choices, all of them right, that’s Freestyle Cruising. Only on Norwegian Cruise Line.

That's great!

Can you tell me a website or anything I can find more info? I can't seem to find anything on the NCL site!

(I'll send a message to my TA, but would be grateful if you had any more info!)

Many thanks!

And I have to add to this -- I obviously have a RCI cruise booked for Fall 2011 but pending on the prices released - you might just see me jump to NCL. I had been playing with the idea anyway and this might have just sealed the fate of my RCI cruise.

I guess we shall see on May 1st. ;)

Michelle,

We booked a cruise on NCL Pearl for Oct 30th about a month or so ago. It is a surprise for the girls over Hallowe'en. We booked during their sale in March, and we got the 3rd and 4th for $199 each. Got a great price on a minisuite, but this promotion sounds better!! Please don't mention anything on FB in case my older dd reads the post.

Why don't you cancel your Enchantment cruise and come celebrate Hallowe'en with us? Would be fun!!

Michele - we had such a good time when we went on the Triumph at the same time. If you switch I'll look at it and think about going too.

You and I back on a ship together could be dangerous. :D I love it!

Why are you going the whole way down to Miami from Toronto? I was thinking about Dawn out of NYC. :) You like those planes don't ya? ;)

LOL ... actually I prefer driving to the port ... so much easier and cheaper!! But our cruise out of NJ last year just took too long to get down to the Caribbean and the ocean was very rough coming back. I don't know if we will cruise out of NY again to go south. The pearl looks like a great ship and we haven't done the western route since our honeymoon. I think it will be worth the hassle of the flight. Let me know if you change plans.

I see that my upcoming cruise for Sept 11th this year out of NOLA is listed on there. I already booked my cruise and had to pay for my child. I wonder if I can somehow still get this deal. Cancel and rebook? Is this possible?

I am guessing no. Appears to be for new bookings only:

Offer is valid for new individual and new group bookings

Damn! I've already booked a cruise for this fall - on Carnival!! Ha ha ha Of all the times to 'jump ship' to another line. :p If we hadn't already booked our non-refundable flights, I'd definitely book one, but I'm sure we'll 'make do' on the one we've got. ha ha ha I couldn't even type that with a straight face!

To everyone considering this offer, GO FOR IT!!! Due to the fact that NCL has consistently had the itinerary I was looking for at the time I wanted it and at a fare I liked, we've been cruising NCL exclusively for our last five cruises. Obviously our current Carnival booking shows that I have never had a problem booking another line - NCL just happened to always have what I wanted. So, while it may appear that I have a loyalty to NCL, really I'm just a cruise lover who has found a lot of good cruises on one line.

That being said, I have to say that I would recommend NCL to any family. Their freestyle program is perfect for anyone who has kids to get ready for meals - and I'm not saying it's always the kids that hold you up. Sometimes after being on a family excursion in port, it's nice for Mom to just sit quietly for a while before having to worry about dinner!

We have also found their specialty restaurants to be really good, and while our daughter has always enjoyed their fare, the regular children's menu is available in all of them (except Teppanyaki I think) so you don't have to worry about spending the cover on your kids if they're not going to eat from the specialty menu. You also have the option of feeding them at one of the other venues and then dropping them at Kid's Crew while you enjoy it alone.

We've always found their Kid's Crew to be top notch as well - although on the Epic our daughter never found time to go!! If the Epic is on the list, I highly recommend her also. All the ships are great, but the Epic is really amazing, in my opinion. Our daughter is past the Nickelodeon stage now (though we did attend Slime Time Live and loved it), but I saw a little girl on the elevator who had just been to a meet and greet with characters. She was practically vibrating, and her grandma asked her if she'd met Diego. The little girl just looked up with HUGE eyes and in an excited whisper said, 'YES!' It was adorable.

Anyway, I just wanted to gush a bit, because I know sometimes NCL gets a bad rap, and we've just had nothing but wonderful experiences. :) I'm sorry we won't be able to take advantage ourselves.

When I click this link it says page unavailable....:(:(

It's working for me. Does it work for anyone else?

HAHAHAHAHA! Come back! HAHAHAHA!

Well, you really know a time to jump ship. :p

So, answer this for me please....if we are docked in Bermuda for 3 days...do we have to pay for the kids crew for all three days since the rates are for "port days"

That might get a little expensive - 2 kids, I know they are going to want to go to the kids camp at night like they do on the other ships times 3 days.

Thanks for the info!

It would be a "new" booking if I cancel my current booking. I mean I just booked this cruise and even though I paid for it in full at booking, I'm still within the "dates of last payment" that I can cancel without charge (I think I was told). That's just so not fair if they wouldn't allow you to do that. I'm going to email my TA about it and see what they say.

Maybe your TA can get it to work. In the past, posters have reported when they attempted to do this (cancel old booking and rebook at the sale price), the cruiseline's computer system recognized them and rebooked at the original, not the lower price. I have no personal experience. Come back and post what happened.

I emailed him.

This is something that I don't understand with this TA. The price for the cabin for 2 adults, plus the 3rd person at 199...gives you a total of $______. Well what they do is take the total and divide that by 3 and give you the average cost per person. However, that's not the "actual" cost per person. When I booked the cruise, I paid in full and my invoice said that I paid $39 for my 3 year old and a total of 247.78 in taxes and port charges...which of course is not right. More like the 199 for the 3rd person in the cabin and 48.78 for the tax.

So basically I'm being told that it's not worth it because I would only be saving $39  No, it should be $199, which is a significant difference, not to mention if they are allowing 2 kids under the age of 18 sail for free, I would be taking my 16 year old as well.

The TA also said they just found out about the special 2 days ago, but doesn't know if my sailing is going to be one on the list. Um, the list is already posted here. How can they not have the list?

I'm just a little confused and wish that I would have waited a little longer to book now. :(

When we cruised with NCL to Bermuda in 2009 there was no charge for the kid's club in the evening. The no cost time ran from about 7 to 10 each night. NCL was still offering their paid sitting services during the day, but there is so much for kids in Bermuda we had no need to use. The anytime dining really works great in Bermuda; no need to rush back to get to assigned dining time.

The other great money saver was the public bus / ferry system. For under $30 per adult we got a 3 day pass that took us from King's Wharf to just about every point of interest in Bermuda.

Thanks for the heads up on the sale.

See I ask this question awhile back and was told that you would have to pay for it as long as they were in port. I'd like to know the same thing because we are planning a Bermuda cruise next year with our little one.

hmmm must must resist temptation! OP thanks for the info. We sail RCL because DH loves the flowrider. But I'm ready to try other cruise lines. If this includes the Epic it will be hard to resist! We have a Chicago and New York trip this Oct and Nov and London in the spring so me thinks I will have to do something very special for DH to get the go ahead hmmm.....

THANK YOU NCL!!!!!

OK, so the bookings opened today and we grabbed an AFT BALCONY on NCL Gem out of NYC to Bermuda! (We love our AFT balconies!) And the price, since the kids were FREE (excluding the Bermuda port fees/govt taxes), was less than half for the balcony I was planning for the lowest priced cruise I could find on RCI.

So, my family RCI cruise in Nov is CANCELLED. Replaced by this cruise.

I just can't justify it anymore. I can cruise solo (with friends) on RCI but I can't do it with all 4 of us.
